Grafton Lakes State Park Holds Its 31st Annual Ice Fishing Contest

Postponed two weeks because of warm temperatures and unsafe ice, winter’s anglers finally got the chance to venture out on the ponds of the State Park, in search of Pickerel, Perch and Trout. Attendance at this year’s event was down considerably from previous years. Park Manager Melissa Ann Miller attributing that to the postponement from the usual date as part of Winterfest, and the subzero temperatures and wind chills. Fire Guts Wall Street Garage

A Sunday morning fire at 19 Wall Street gutted the upstairs level of a garage. The fire got a big head start before the call came. When the Hoosick Falls Fire Department arrived, the smoke was pouring out of all openings and fire was shooting sideways out a window at the rear of the structure.
