Berlin Boys Fall To Cambridge But Head Into Sectional Play Optimistic

The Mountaineers closed out the regular season with an 80 to 59 loss to the Cambridge Indians, stepping up in class as a tune up to this week’s Section 2 Class D competition.  Roark Slattery again led from the way with 27 points and six rebounds.  Slattery also dropped in six from three-point land.  Senior Ryan Shumway added 12 points while Ryan Gosse contributed another 11 points.   The Mountaineers held their own on the defensive boards, but only four offensive rebounds hampered their scoring efforts. Grafton Lakes State Park Holds Its 31st Annual Ice Fishing Contest

Postponed two weeks because of warm temperatures and unsafe ice, winter’s anglers finally got the chance to venture out on the ponds of the State Park, in search of Pickerel, Perch and Trout. Attendance at this year’s event was down considerably from previous years. Park Manager Melissa Ann Miller attributing that to the postponement from the usual date as part of Winterfest, and the subzero temperatures and wind chills.
