The Hoosick Falls Panther football team traveled 80 minutes down Route 22 last Friday night to meet the Taconic Hills Titans. Two hours later the Panthers returned after totally dominating the Titans. The Titans only entered the Panthers end of the field twice. The Panthers led 28 – 0 at the end of the first quarter, and 49 – 0 at the half.

HF Boys Soccer Is Undefeated

Cruising along like a well oiled machine, the Panthers are mowing them down. Last Thursday, facing a very good Hoosic Valley team on the Indians home field, HF earned a double overtime win. HF Girls Soccer – Almost Perfect

Last Friday, the Lady Panther soccer team traveled to Hoosic Valley. The Panthers outscored the Indians 4 – 3 to bring home a win. Jordyn Haynes put 2 goals in the net. Kolumbia Cook and Casie Mann each scored once. Hannah Fricke had nine saves in goal. The Hoosic Valley goalie had 14 saves.
Monday afternoon, Mt. Anthony visited Delurey Field to play the Ladies. The hosts came away with a 4 – 1 victory. Rachel Pine and Jordyn Haynes each scored two goals for the Panthers. Hannah Fricke had seven stops in goal.

HF Field Hockey Is Undefeated

Monday afternoon a fine Hoosick Falls field hockey team played the Salem Generals on the HFCS field. Caytlyn Springer scored two goals, and Liz Ryan, Carsen Williams, Olivia Schneider and Ally Burdick each scored once to beat the Generals 6 – 0. The Salem goalie had her hands full the entire game, fending off 23 shots. Panther goalie Ashley St. Onge showed up for work, but the team gave her the day off, as she didn’t have to make any saves.
On Wednesday the team faced Schuylerville on the Black Horses’ beautiful turf field. The Panthers came away with a 7 – 0 win. Caytlyn Springer scored three goals, Liz Ryan two, Ally Burdick and Ashley St. Onge each had one.
This Friday, October 4, the team faces Greenwich at HFCS at 4:15 pm. On Wednesday, October 9, Greenwich comes to visit HFCS for a 4:15 pm start.

The Town of Hoosick Democrats and Hoosick First Committee held a wildly successful Meet The Candidates dinner at the Polish Hall on Friday, September 27. “The enthusiasm for electing a new Town Supervisor, Highway Superintendent, two new Town Council members and County legislator was electric tonight,” said Bob Ryan, Committee Chair. “People are so eager to get a Town government with integrity, we sold out of everything!”

Two years ago the Berlin Elementary School Band Program sent out a call for instrument donations, and many area residents responded, giving over 20 used band instruments to our young musicians.

WW II Veterans Recognition

The public is invited to join us on Saturday, October 26, from 10 am to 12 noon at the Armory on Church Street (note change of venue) as we recognize and honor heroes from Hoosick Falls who served in World War II.
There will be a presentation of service awards to WW II veterans or family members representing deceased loved ones, a display by the Hoosick Falls Historical Society, appearances by local, County and State elected officials and the Patriot Guard Riders. A light lunch will be served following the program.
We invite you to come out and help us honor these men and women. Please make reservations by October 12 so we will have ample seating and food for those in attendance.
This event is being sponsored by Voice of a Vet, Heroes at Home and the American Legion Hoosick Falls Post.

New Lebanon Library Annual Used Book And Bake Sale
The New Lebanon Library will hold its annual used book and bake sale on Saturday, October 5, from 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday, October 6, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Midtown Mall, Routes 20 and 22 in the center of New Lebanon. Admission on Saturday and Sunday is free. There will be a special preview sale on Friday, October 4, from 2 pm to 6 pm. Admission to the preview costs $5.
Available for sale will be a large assortment of hard and soft cover books, including children’s books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs. Most items will be priced from .25 to $5. Proceeds benefit the Library.

Basket Weaving Workshop In Grafton
The Grafton Community Library presents an Intermediate Basket Weaving – Tote Basket Workshop as part of the Grafton Community Arts Program that has been awarded grant funding from The Arts Center of the Capital Region.
The student will learn intermediate basket making techniques to create this attractive basket. Basic weaving skills are required. Linda Dayton is the instructor for this class.
The Tote Basket is a sturdy basket useful for carrying books, craft projects, beach gear or even picnic items. Measuring 13” by 5 ½” and 11 ½ inches deep, it is large enough to be used as a magazine holder. Shaker Tape is attached for the handles and dyed reeds add a bit of color to the basket.
The class will be held on both Saturday, October 19, and Saturday, October 26, from 9 am to 12:30 pm at the Everett Wagar Senior Center in Grafton. Participants must be able to attend both sessions. Class size is limited to 10 participants (adults only). Preregistration is required, along with a $10 materials fee. Sign up at the Library at 2455 NY Route 2.
