Letter To The Editor – Dumping Trash Leads To Personal Tragedy

Dear Editor,
We have a neighborhood problem that is getting worse. Someone has been dumping trash and garbage at various spots in the village. One spot is near the Berlin Library. Everybody is heartily sick of this mess. Mr. Jaeger, our Town Supervisor, has not had time to do anything. The Health Department has been helpful but cannot act until some legal actions are possible. I have called the Code Enforcement Officer, Allan Yerton, but he has not called back yet.
Two days ago our valiant little cat, Violet, fought a rat that the garbage brought on. The vet said she suffered from severe rat bites. She died this morning. We are heartbroken.

Hoosick Democrats To Host Spaghetti Dinner

The Town of Hoosick Democratic Party will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Friday, September 30, at the Polish Hall from 5 to 7:30 pm. This will give the public an opportunity to meet the Democratic candidates for the upcoming November 8 election.
The Democratic candidates are Laura Reynolds for Town Supervisor, Bob Ryan and Marie O’Neil for Town Council and Richard Whalen  for Town Justice.

Stephentown Democrats Endorse Goodermote Jennings, Caton And Whitman

The Stephentown Democrats caucused Thursday night, September 15, at the Fire Hall to select their local candidates for the November 8 election.
“Democrats are enthusiastic and feeling positive about the direction of Stephentown since gaining a majority on the Town Board in last year’s election,” said Andrew White, Chair of the Stephentown Democratic Committee. “Stephentown residents have voted strongly for change, and we are delivering. We are proud to present a strong, qualified and experienced slate of candidates to deliver on our promise to move Stephentown forward.”

Hoosick Grange News

Hoosick Grange met on September 8 at Center Brunswick Grange. It was installation of Center Brunswick Grange and Hoosick Grange. It was a great meeting with over 50 Grangers present. The Albany County Installation Team with Master Robert Payne did the installing of the Grangers. The New York State Master, Mr. Stephen Coye, was there and was pianist for the evening. HFCS Field Hockey Loses To Greenwich In A Defensive Struggle

The Lady Panthers hosted the Greenwich Witches, the Panthers biggest rival in field hockey, in a game that could have big consequences in the future. Defense was the name of the game as the Witches scored at the mid-point of the first half and that single goal was enough to take a hard fought 1 – 0 victory back to Whipple City.
