JLS Foundation Finalists Attend Networking Day In New York

Five students from the Class of 2011 at Hoosick Falls Central School recently attended a networking day in New York City where they met with five professionals who shared stories about their careers, offered advice on how to be successful and pledged to stay in contact with the students to help them plan their college and post-college careers.

Rensselaer County Emergency Services Memorial Ceremony

Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen M. Jimino will join with community leaders and other locally elected officials at a memorial service to honor the men and women of emergency services who have passed away in the last year. The service will begin at 3 pm on Sunday, October 3.  The event will take place at the Maureen Stapleton Theater located on the Hudson Valley Community College campus in Troy.  Family members of those being honored and members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend.

Open House For HFCS Capital Improvement Project

The $8.3 million Capital Improvement Project at Hoosick Falls Central School is now complete. On Thursday, October 7, at 6 pm the school will hold a community-wide Open House to offer residents the opportunity to view the many and diverse physical plant improvements and updates at the school. Hoosick Falls Football Remains Undefeated

The Hoosick Falls football team continued its winning streak with a 34-6 win over the Granville Horde under the Friday night lights of Ken Baker field on September 24.
Tanner Williams took the ball to the end zone 3 times to lead the Panthers. He ended the evening with 146 combined rushing and receiving yards.

Lady Panther Soccer Beats Hoosic Valley In A High Scoring Match

The Hoosick Falls Girls Soccer team went into Wednesday’s game against the current first place team, Hoosic Valley. The Panthers knew that in order to win the WASAREN League this would be a game they needed to win. However, within the first minutes HV scored from a corner kick. HFCS Boys Soccer Loses A Close One

The Hoosick Falls and Hoosic Valley boys soccer teams scored all three goals of the game in the first 10 minutes. Two goals were scored by Hoosic Valley’s J.T. Hoosick Planning Board Action – September 2010

Brian Boll was the first to appear before the Town of Hoosick Planning Board on Monday evening, September 20. He wants to make a borderline change to his property on Bayer Rd. His request may require subdivision revisions and may affect deed restrictions. He will file an application for the change and appear before the Board next month.

Community Walk To Prevent Suicide

In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 16 minutes; that’s more than 33,000 lives lost each year. It is estimated that an attempt is made every minute, with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teens and young adults and the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. among adults ages 18-65.
