Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary Charlie Dog Fund Raiser Next Friday

The Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary is having a Charlie Dog Fund Raiser at the Fire House on Friday, September 17 beginning at 4 pm and lasting until the dogs are gone.
Dogs cost $ .75 each, ½ dozen for $ 4.75 and 1 dozen for $9.
Pre-order your dogs ahead of time by calling Janet at 658-3053.
We ask the Community to support us in our fund raising efforts by allowing us to cook dinner for them.

Grafton FD And Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, September 25, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85).
The menu includes Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk.
The cost is $8 per adult, $4 per kid 12 and under and free for kids 5 and under. We look forward to serving you!

Sand Lake Bicentennial Dinner Celebration

A dinner to celebrate the Town of Sand Lake’s upcoming 2012 Bicentennial will be held  at The Church of the Covenant in Averill Park on September 18  at 5:45 pm. The dinner menu and theme have an historic emphasis. The program will be a PowerPoint® presentation of the Troy & New England Railway booklet completed by Charles Viens and Sanford Young. On display will be a scale model of Trolley No. 6 being constructed by Ross Sterantino.

Petersburgh Turkey Shoot

It’s time to win that turkey again this year!  The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club will be holding its Fall Turkey Shoot on
September 26 and October 3, rain date October 10, at 12 noon at the Clubhouse on Scriven Road. Spend an exciting afternoon with your family. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, homemade pies, popcorn and beverages are just a few of the items we offer.  We are continuing with our Summer 50/50 which has been growing all summer.  Raffles will also be offered.  Remember, shotguns and .22 rifles only – no 10 gauge shotguns.  Questions?  Call 283-4890.  Hope to see you there.

Hunter Safety Course

The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club is offering a Hunter Safety Course on October 8 (evening) and October 9. You must attend both sessions. Vacation Bible School Raises Money For Veterans Memorial Wall

The High Seas Expedition Vacation Bible School sponsored by the Hoosick Falls First Baptist Church and First United Presbyterian Church was held July 19 to 23. This year’s Mission Project was the Veterans Memorial Wall in Wood Park in Hoosick Falls. A free will offering was taken at the opening program each night during VBS.

George Has A Bout Of “Lameness”

Thursday, March 16, 1854: Today Capt. Tanner the butcher and his brother Benj. Tanner, they came and I sold them  a steer  and heifer that was stall fed that was John F.’s, he was gone to R. A. Brown’s store to return boosums that my family made for him. Said Tanner paid 57 dol and 50 cts for said fat cattle. Today Geo P. walked to Pittsfield to look at working oxen to buy but he did not buy any.
Saturday: I am quite lame. Today quite snow squally.
