Baseball Camp

The “Good Old Country Hardball” Baseball Camp will once again be held at the Hoosick Little League Fields for those entering grades 3-8. The camp dates are July 5 through July 8, and the day runs from 9 am to 3 pm. Camp brochures can be picked up at the Hoosick Little League Field snack bar or by calling Camp Director Mike Lilac at 686-7321 or 686- 4320.

Hoosier Basketball Camp

The Hoosier Basketball Camp will again be sponsored by the Town of Hoosick for boys and girls entering grades 3-8. Camp dates are June 28 through July 1, and each day runs from 9 am to 3 pm. The Music and Art Café Night will feature ace guitarist Mike McMann on Friday, June 25. He is a versatile musician who has been noted as “one of the finest guitar players to hail from New York’s Capital Region.” Mike is a veteran of classic rock, alternative rock, bluegrass and original songs. Show times are 7 and 9 pm. The cost is $5 per person, $8 per couple and $10 for a family. Desserts and non-alcohol beverages will be available.

LeBarron Family Reunion

The 78th Annual LeBarron Family Reunion will be held at Washington County Park’s Lake Lauderdale on Rt. 22 in the Town of Jackson on Sunday, July 18.
Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm sharp. A meeting will be held prior to lunch. Bring a meat to grill and a covered dish (hot or cold), the size of your family to share.  Beverage will be provided. Bring photos and other memorabilia to share. Admission is two dollars per person (children under 6 years of age enter free). This includes swimming with a lifeguard on duty all day. There is an entrance fee of $1 per car.

Junior Naturalist Programs For Kids

The Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center will hold a Junior Naturalist Series this summer for kids ages 2 through 10. The first of the series is on Frogs and Salamanders and will be held on Saturday, June 26, from 10 am until noon. Second in the series is Bountiful Bugs held on Thursday, July 1. Each program in the series will focus on a new topic and include an activity and a craft. The fee is $3 per child or $6 per family. Programs are held rain or shine. Pre-registration is encouraged to help with planning, but not required and can be done by contacting the Center at dykenpond@fairpoint.net or at 658-2055.
Dyken Pond Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and non-motor boating. Call 658-2055 for directions and a complete schedule of our summer events.

Free Fishing Day Saturday, June 26, GLSP

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is sponsoring a family fishing day on Saturday, June 26, from noon until 2 pm at Grafton Lakes State Park. “This is a great opportunity for families to learn more about the great sport of fishing and New York’s natural resources,” DEC Biologist Joelle Ernst said. “This day is set up to teach participants about fishing and promote a rewarding activity that will last a lifetime.”
