Open Burning Banned Between March 16 And May 15
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) implemented a new open burning regulation that took effect in October 2009. As part of that regulation no open burning is permitted between March 16 and May 15 each year. The regulation also specifies what can and cannot be burned.

Taconic Valley Youth Basketball Awards Night

On Tuesday, March 5, the Petersburgh Veteran’s Memorial Community Center was alive with excitement. Approximately 80 young basketball players of the area, along with their families, were geared up for their annual awards night. There wasn’t an empty seat in the place, and there was plenty of jovial chatter besides.

Wesley Brownell And Family Celebrate His 90th Birthday

The Hoosick Falls Baptist Church hall was filled with family and friends of Wesley Brownell on Saturday, February 21. Colorful balloons and signs festooned the hall. Everyone was on hand to help Wes celebrate his 90th birthday. His son, Rensselaer County Legislator Stan Brownell, presented him with a congratulatory certificate from the County Legislature.

After the Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Section II C-D bowling tournament with a score of 5,822 pins, the Panthers had to wait until the seventeen A schools and twenty B schools bowled to see if they would have the highest overall total and go on and bowl at the New York State Bowling Tournament in Syracuse on March 2.
