The Stephentown Historical Society Presents The History Of The Pittsfield Military Cantonment

Historian James Parrish will present an illustrated talk, “The History of the Pittsfield Military Cantonment,” at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Monday, November 5, at 7:30 pm.   The Cantonment was a prison which held British and Canadian soldiers captured during the War of 1812. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. Dyken Pond Center Wreath Fundraiser

Traditional balsam fir wreaths are being sold as a fundraiser for the Friends of the Dyken Pond Center. These 18″ wreathes are packed full with aromatic balsam, pine cones, red velvet ribbon and a collectible, original, natural ornament that can be kept for years to come. St. Mary’s Cemetery Clean-Up

New Lebanon Library November Events

The New Lebanon Library announces the following November events. All of these events are free and will take place at the Library which is located at 550 State Route 20.
• November 7, 14, 21, 28 (event is on Wednesdays) – Kid’s Stuff – Tales for Tots Story Hour – 10:30 am. Story hour includes crafts, songs and movement activities.
• November 7, 14, 21, 28 (event is on Wednesdays) – Kid’s Stuff – Hug-A-Bye Babies – Noon. Age appropriate stories, songs, and movement activities for our youngest patrons and their caregivers.

North Chatham Library Presents Wildlife

Berlin Fire Department Breakfast

On Sunday, November 4, from 7 to 11 am, the Berlin Fire Department will be holding its fresh, hot off the griddle monthly breakfast. For your eating pleasure we include all-you-can-eat pancakes, French toast, biscuits for our homemade sausage gravy, sausage and bacon, toast, home fries and eggs (scrambled, sunny side, over easy or over hard). Beverage choices include coffee, tea (both decaf available), hot chocolate, milk and orange juice. The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for kids 5-10 and free for kids under 5.
Please join us before church, grocery run or what you are doing for the day and have a great start to the morning.

• Wednesday, November 7, 14, 21 and 28 – Wandering Wednesdays with Friends member Dorothy Surprise. Come explore the Park with the open views allowed in the month of November’s forest. To register, visit www.meetup.com/friendsofgraftonlakesstatepark.
• Monday, November 12 at 10 am – Lost in the Woods.  Developed by an avid outdoorsman and search and rescue volunteer, this program gives your children the tools and basic instruction to know what to do if they ever find themselves lost in the outdoors. The program is free, and it may save your child’s life! Meet at the Park Office. Call 279-1155 to register.
• Saturday, December 1 –  8:15 am to 4:30 pm – Snowmobile Safety Course.  Sponsored by the Grafton Trail Blazers, this free snowmobile safety course for youth 10 and older is approved by NYS Parks. To register, call 279-1155.  Free lunch will be offered to all attendees.The course will be held at the Grafton VFW on South Road.
