Calling All Ghosts, Ghouls And Goblins
Gather your wigs, capes, horns and broomsticks because HAYC3 and the Town of Hoosick will be hosting the annual Halloween Parade on October 30. The parade will start at 6 pm at Wood Park. Prizes will be awarded to the scariest, funniest, cutest and most original costumes. Please call HAYC3 at 686-9050 with any questions.
Stephentown Veterans Day Celebration
The annual Veterans Day Celebration at the Veterans Memorial Park in Stephentown will honor in particular this year those veterans who served during World War II. The Celebration will be held on Saturday, November 10, starting at 11 am. All are invited to a spaghetti dinner afterward at the Stephentown Fire Hall from 12:30 to 2 pm. A good will offering will be accepted. Shut-ins can arrange for home delivery by calling 658-2448 by noon, November 9.
PVMCC Music And Art Cafe Is This Friday
The Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center is happy to host another Music and Art Cafe this October. Bring your friends and family to this unique, local musical event on Friday, October 26, and enjoy music from Peter Bearup and Charlie Morris of the local band, The Coveralls. The event runs from 7 to 9 pm; admission is $5 per person, $8 per couple and kids get in for free.
Thrift Store Opens Next Week In Hoosick Falls
The local Thrift Store has a large collection of clothes for all seasons, all ages, and all shapes and sizes – men, women and children! And all are priced extremely reasonably. Prices range from $.25 (children’s clothing) to $1 for men’s and women’s tops, pants and skirts and $3 for adult jackets and suits. Or, shoppers can fill a provided shopping bag for $3. Only cash will be accepted for purchases.

HAYC3 Is Open For Basketball Season!
Registration is now open for the HAYC3 basketball program. This fun, recreational program geared toward improving skills and teamwork through weekly practices and league games is open to youth from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The program for children in grades 3 to 8 begins with mandatory clinics on Saturday, November 3 and 10. The season for kindergarten through second grade starts on Saturday, December 1. The boys’ seventh and eighth grade travel team skills development, practices and games will begin on Saturday, December 1.

Upcoming Events At The Stephentown Memorial Library
• Halloween Party – The Stephentown Youth Commission and the Stephentown Memorial Library invite you to a Halloween Party at the Library on Saturday, October 27, at 2:30 pm. There will be lots of fun activities, including pumpkin painting, crafts, stories, songs and yummy refreshments. We will also be showing the movie, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Children are encouraged to wear their costumes or bring them along to change into them. Petersburgh Embraces Dreamers On November 14
An unusual video presentation will take place at the Petersburgh Town Hall on Wednesday, November 14, at 7 pm and 8:15 pm, celebrating the artists and dreamers who have settled and worked in the Town for many years.
The little town of Petersburgh, nestled in the hills and mountains of eastern Rensselaer County, has long been known for the rugged beauty of its landscape. What is not so well known is that this setting has, over the years, attracted a unique mix of independent artists and visionaries, individuals who have had a lifelong dream and realized it. With disciplines as diverse as music, painting, master masonry, sculpture, jewelry and metal sculpture, ceramic pottery and more, the arts are thriving in this small village.

Texas Hold’em Tournament In Hoosick Falls
During the “fall-in @ the armory” all day celebration outside and in the Hoosick Falls Armory on October 27 there will be a Texas Hold’em Tournament. The doors for the Tournament open at 6 pm and the play starts at 6:30. The donation is $35 (unlimited re-buys until the break), and the high hand is $5. There will be a beginners table for those interested in learning the game.
Refreshments will be served.
All proceeds from the event will be used to assist the Thayne family with medical expenses.
Photos On Display At The Petersburgh Library
On display at the Petersburgh Library though November is the artwork of Erik Kjell Smits. There will be a reception on Saturday, November 3 from 11 until noon when Erik will be at the Library to meet the public and discuss his art.
