Johnsonville Rescue Squad Annual Ham Dinner

The Johnsonville Rescue Squad, located at 4 River Road, is holding its annual ham dinner on Sunday, September 23, from 3 to 6 pm. The cost for adults is $10, $5 for children 5-12. The menu consists of ham, potatoes, coleslaw, rolls, homemade pies, pickles and applesauce. Reservations can be made by calling 753-7518. Take out is available, or you can eat in.

Texas Hold’em In Stephentown

The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, September 8, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.

The Sand Lake Center for the Arts will present James Keelaghan in concert on Saturday, September 8, at 8 pm. Known as “Canada’s finest singer/songwriter. . . a man for all seasons,” Keelaghan has received the esteemed Juno award (Canada’s Grammy).  He is acclaimed from Australia to England and Scandinavia with his masterful storytelling, lilting baritone and driving rhythmic guitar. Local Trapper Training Course

Graveside Services For Lucien F. Boucot

Petersburgh – Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 1 pm in the Meadowlawn Cemetery, Hewitt Road in Petersburgh, NY, for Lucien F. “Lou” Boucot, who died on March 31, 2012. He is survived by his wife Pat and his sister Lorraine. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be a reception/lunch in the Parish House of the Sacred Heart Church on Main Street in Berlin after the services.
Arrangements are by the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh.

Monday, March 1, 1824: This morning about 1 o’clock Father waked me and sent me after Wm and he came and father set him to read his will. He likewise did and Father told Wm in the morning he must go after Wm Bailey, for he wants to make some alterations and this forenoon Wm went and got Mr. Bailey, and he came and drew a will according to Father’s directions. Today we chopped to the door and tended to chores. Father is getting quite unwell.

Water Shortage Ongoing In Hoosick Falls

Hoosick Falls Water Superintendent Jim Hurlburt said Wednesday, “The one and a half inches of rain we have had in the last two weeks hasn’t made a bit of difference.” Luckily the rain did soak into the ground to relieve the stress on lawns.
The Hoosic River looks lower as well. It’s a far cry from the flood conditions that existed a year ago this week.

Traffic Detours In Stephentown
