Grafton Stephentown – Gregory E. Stevens, 54, of Middle Way, Grafton Stephentown, NY, died on Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012, at his residence, under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Ayer, MA, on October 8, 1957, he was the son of the late Earl A. Stevens and Luanne James Stevens of Petersburgh, NY. He was the loving husband of Cheryl A. Gundrum Stevens, whom he married on December 19, 1987, in Grafton.

Holcomb was married on April 15 of this year, 1819.  He turned 28 on June 13, 1819.
July 4, Sunday: This afternoon I and my wife walked to singing school at the school house near Mr. Simeon Wylie’s.  We took tea going over at Mother Springs.
July 5: Today I went to Independence to Mr. Henry Hull’s at New Lebanon Springs. I rode with Mr. Henry Platt, Jr., an oration was delivered by the Rev. Mr. Churchill, but I did not get there in time to hear it. Healing Trip To Vietnam Fund-Raiser Draws Large Crowd

The Taconic Valley American Legion Auxiliary’s Fund-raiser  to support Wally O’Neil’s healing trip to Vietnam was a nice success. On Saturday over 100 people came out in frigid weather to enjoy a wonderful variety of food, great music and an awesome eclectic Chinese auction. Kathy Jaeger donated the door prize of a huge valentine basket which held all kinds of romantic items. Sue Putnam Resigns As Grafton Town Secretary

At the Grafton Town Board meeting on Monday, January 23, the Board accepted a letter of resignation from Sue Putnam from her position as Town Secretary, in which she has served for 25 years. Supervisor Ray Darling thanked Putnam for her long service, and the audience responded with a standing ovation for her. Sue Putnam will continue in her elected position of Town Clerk, and the Board appointed her to a new four year term as Registrar of Vital Statistics by unanimous vote.

Snow Was Perfect For The 27th Annual Winter Fest

The morning snowfall came just in time. Saturday’s snow created the perfect backdrop to another successful Winter Fest. For 27 years, Grafton Lakes State Park’s Winter Festival has been the highlight of the usually dormant winter season by offering outdoor enjoyment and free entertainment for the whole family.

New Veterinary Clinic To Open In Hoosick

Dr. Lee Delaney returned to the Hoosick Planning Board this month with all the materials the Board had requested of him at the previous month’s meeting. The Board reviewed the materials and verbally reviewed the environmental impact assessment regulations. They found no environmental issues. Petersburgh Town Board Discusses Water District Finances

The Petersburgh Town Board held a meeting on Tuesday, January 17, to discuss the finances of the Water District. Only four citizens attended the meeting, along with Supervisor Krahforst, Councilmen Snyder and Goodermote and Town Clerk Callie Crisp.
The problem currently is that the District is in deficit by about $5,000. Although a statement of monthly income against average monthly expenses presented by the Town Bookkeeper showed a surplus of $300 a month, overall expenses have been outpacing income over the last two years because of very high repair costs.

Late Sunday afternoon Hoosick Falls Police Chief Robert Ashe and Officer Harold McClellan spent an hour at the Wood Park meeting room talking with more than two dozen residents of the Woodbridge Heights and Wood Park apartments. The Chief reminded them, “We’re not here just to catch the bad guys, we’re here as a service to you.” He told the gathering, “Don’t think you’re bothering us. If you see something is wrong or you have a concern, call 911. They’re trained and they will get you the help you need.”
