Stephentown Town Board Action – Music Festival Raises A Ruckus

The August Town Board meeting in Stephentown means it’s time for the annual rehash of trouble from the Bella Terra Music Festival. The four day event held August 15-18 was the Fifth Annual one and the fourth to be held at Gardner’s Field in Stephentown.  The trouble remains pretty much the same each year, excessive noise going on into the wee hours of the morning. Hoosick Federal Credit Union Celebrates Its 60th Anniversary

On August 24 the Hoosick Federal Credit Union will celebrate is 60th Anniversary with a party at the Armory from 3 to 7 pm. Everyone is invited for food, music, door prizes and giveaways. “It’s our way of thanking the community for allowing us to serve the area for 60 great years,” said Credit Union President Jim Martinez.

The Stephentown Beautification Committee

Stephentown’s Town Hall is looking a lot nicer thanks to a group of public spirited citizens. Burt Swersey, who is closing out his Shadowbrook Nursery, made it known some weeks ago that he was ready to donate hundreds of plants, shrubs and trees to beautify the village central area of the Town. He also was willing to lend his expertise in getting them planted properly and to help with organizing and assisting volunteers to maintain them. The Town Board endorsed the idea and formed a volunteer Beautification Committee, stipulating that maintenance and care would be the responsibility of the Committee.

Grafton – Marie A. (Schermerhorn) Sweet of Grafton, NY, died on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after a brief illness.
Born on July 28, 1930, Marie was the daughter of the late Mildred and Henry Schermerhorn and the wife of the late Rufus C. Sweet. She was a life long resident of Grafton, educated in Grafton’s Toad Point one room school, and she attended the Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, NY.
