Shatford Little League Registration For 2009 Season

County Legislature Delays Recognition Of Bronze Star Recipient

In a ceremony on Veterans Day in Afghanistan 1st Sergeant James Meltz of Cropseyville received a Bronze Star. The news hit the wires on Veterans Day here in the States. On Wednesday evening, November 12, at the meeting of the Rensselaer County Legislature, the Democrat Legislator who the Republican Legislators love to hate, Kevin Harrington of Averill Park, introduced a resolution as a late filing that honored Sgt. Meltz.

Berlin Holds Tax Levy Increase To 1.297%

At its regular meeting on Thursday, November 13, the Berlin Town Board adopted  the Berlin 2009 budget with $574,783 to be raised by taxes, a figure that includes the Fire District. This represents a 1.297% increase in the tax levy over last year. Without the Berlin Fire District appropriations the amount to be raised by taxes for the Town’s services alone would have represented a .3% decrease in property taxes.
