Possibility Of Five Rensselaer County State Parks Closing

There are 179 Parks and 36 Historic Sites in New York State. NYS budget rumors have five State sites closing in Rensselaer County. They are Grafton Lakes State Park, Cherry Plain State Park, Schodack Island State Park, the Bennington Battlefield and Fort Crailo. There is swimming and canoeing at both Grafton and Cherry Plain. Grafton is open year around and has over 20 miles of trails suitable for walking, mountain biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Grafton Town Board Action – Is Dumpster Complaint Rubbish?

During the Town Board meeting in Grafton on February 11, Rick and Sara Ungaro were in attendance to make a complaint to the Board. The Ungaros claimed they were approached by Tom Withcuskey, Grafton Code Enforcement Officer, on January 31, in a neighbor’s home about their dumpster and how it needed to be fenced in. Addressing High Rates Of Alcohol And Drug Abuse In The BCSD

At a breakfast meeting in Berlin last Thursday, February 4, community leaders heard some dismal reports about drug and alcohol abuse among our teens and pre-teens and some advice on organizing to counteract the problem. The meeting, held at the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church Hall and organized and sponsored by the TRACS Coalition (Together Reducing Alcohol and drugs in our Communities), drew about 25 interested people from the communities of Grafton, Petersburgh, Berlin and Stephentown.
