The annual Village-Wide Tag Sale will be held on Saturday, May 25, in and around the village of Hoosick Falls. This event is organized by HAYC3. A free map of registered sales will be available at the Information Tent in Wood Memorial Park from 9 am to noon on the Tag Sale Day. To register a sale for placement on the official map, pick up a registration form at HAYC3 at 115 Church Street or on their website: www.hayc3.org. There is no fee for map placement. Tag Sale spaces (10’x10′) are also available in Wood Park during the day and can also be picked up at HAYC3 or the website. For more information, call 686-9050.

Taste Of Hoosick Raises $5,842 For Food Pantry

Chowders, roast beef, pizza, pasta, wings, subs, shrimp, ice cream, cookies and much, much more were available for the sampling at the Hoosick Area Church Association Taste of Hoosick at St. Mary’s Academy on Sunday, May 5. While tasting the delicious food, folks enjoyed an excellent musical program presented first by Bill Gaillard and The Stardusters, followed by The Word of Life Singers from The Word of Life Bible Institute at Schroon Lake and winding up with show tunes by Bill Brown on piano and Martha von Schilgen on violin.

Derby Club Celebration

Eighty-seven years ago a group of Hoosick Falls guys who hung around the American House bet on the Kentucky Derby. Lo and behold they won! The next question was what to do with the winnings. And the Derby Community Club, a not-for-profit organization, was formed. That race money and other contributions is the basis for the support still offered local organizations and individuals today. Hoosick Falls – Kathryn Bingham Page passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington, VT, following a long illness. She leaves her sister, Dianne Bingham Stevens of Hoosick Falls, along with two sons. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, at 2 pm in the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls, 80 Main Street, with a time of fellowship to follow. Arrangements are by the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh, NY.

Shortly before 1 pm on a beautiful, warm Sunday afternoon, April 28, several 911 calls were received reporting a plane crash in Hoosick Falls. The single engine Aeronica model airplane, piloted by Stanton Denis King of Bunker Hill Road, Valley Falls, was seen circling the Hoosick Falls Country Club and open land behind Rogers Avenue.
