Meals Warm Hoosick Falls Community
by Bea Peterson
“It started out as the congregation wanting to do something for the community,” said John Hyde. He was speaking about the free monthly meals offered at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hoosick Falls. “Secondly, we wanted to develop a men’s ministry.” What it became, more than three years ago, was St. Mark’s Men’s Suppers. Though many help with the preparation, the kitchen is overseen by the men, including preparation and cleanup. [Read more…] about Meals Warm Hoosick Falls Community
2012 In Hoosick: A Look Back
by Bea Peterson
The biggest topic of the year in the Town and Village was the Armory. The Town Board was in a quandary as to whether to purchase the building for use as the Town Hall or not. A Save the Armory Committee threw themselves into gathering information to justify making the building the Town Hall and adding uses to the building to make it feasible. There was a bidders’ conference held. Later all the RFPs were rejected by the Board. HAYC3 offered to purchase the Armory from the State for $1. [Read more…] about 2012 In Hoosick: A Look Back

HAYC3 Labyrinth Walk At The Armory
On Sunday, December 30, HAYC3 will host a meditative Labyrinth Walk at the Armory from Noon to 3 pm.
Measuring approximately 36 feet wide, the labyrinth provides a calming, peaceful start to ready your mind and spirit for the coming New Year.
Labyrinth walkers will enter and exit at the same point, and can always see where they are going as the path is clearly marked on the ground. The labyrinth is not a maze. The purpose of a maze is to lose your way: the labyrinth is designed for you to find your way. It represents a journey to your own center and back out into the world. The design of the labyrinth replicates the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France.
Labyrinth walks should begin at least 30-mintues before closing time. The event is free and open to the public; no reservations required. Please bring a pair of comfortable socks for your walk. For more information, call HAYC3 (518) 686-9050.

HAYC3 Cognitive Therapy Workshop
Many studies have found that Cognitive Therapy is as effective as anti-depressants for curing the blues. Good news in brain science makes this work even more hopeful and worthwhile. Learn to check the logic of your depressive thoughts and begin the slow healing procss of retraining your brain.
There will be no registred therapists in the class, just people like you who are determined to stop wasting time on “stinkin’ thinkin.’” This workshop will be on Wednesday, January 9 at 6:30 pm at the Armory. The workshop is $20 for HAYC3 members and $30 for non-members. Please call HAYC3 at 686-9050 to register.
