Kiwanis Gas Raffle For Irick And Larson
The Hoosick Falls Kiwanis is raffling off $250 in gas cards for $1 a ticket or 6 tickets for $5. The proceeds of this gas raffle will be split between Julie Irick who has been stricken by illness and James Larson who has had an accident. The drawing is October 1. Anyone wishing to purchase a raffle ticket should contact Denim & Deeds Real Estate at 518-686-4426 or any Kiwanis member.
Community Fund-Raiser For Julie Irick
Please help Julie get back on her feet. Due to a sudden illness Julie was left with double vision. Julie is now unable to drive and has numerous doctor bills. She was hospitalized at Albany Med. for six days, sent home without a definite diagnosis and does not have one to date. Julie has a lesion on her brain that has left her paralyzed on the left side of her face. She was told they are almost certain it is MS. The lesion Julie has that makes the doctors believe it is MS or a stroke is on the 7th cranial nerve also causing Bell’s palsy. If that was not enough she was told she has an aneurysm. Relay For Life Pancake Breakfast
There will be an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Sunday, August 7, from 7 am to noon at the Hoosick Falls Fire House on Main Street. The cost for adults is $7, $3.50 for children 10 and under.
The breakfast is sponsored by Hathaway Electric’s Relay For Life Team. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society and Relay For Life 2011

Wounded Vet Takes Other Wounded Vets To Ball Games

U.S. Army Sgt. Kevin Miller is a man on a mission. He is co-founder of Warriors in the Bronx. On Friday, July 15, Miller was outside Weebs Fish Fry selling T-shirts and collecting donations for his project. On June 25 he rented a 12 passenger van and drove 10 wounded veterans to Yankee Stadium. The vets were given a tour of the stadium, the museum and Monument Park. Walter A. Wood High School Alumni Reunion

Nearly 200 Alumni and guests attended the 2011 annual Walter A. Wood High School (Hoosick Falls) Alumni Reunion on Saturday, June 11, at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps. Co-chairperson Janice Tate welcomed the group with a special recognition of the new 50-year class and of Mr. Philip Leonard, a guest, who was Superintendent of the old high school and the new Hoosick Falls Central School for many years. Rev. Paul Mason of Class of 1955 gave the invocation.

Members of the Hoosick Falls Fire Department and the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad met with seven and eight year old kids from the Town of Hoosick Camp on Friday, July 8. This is the second gathering of young people to visit the Departments this year. The first visit was during the elementary school village walk.

Community Mural Workshops Begin At Youth Center
Community members have begun working on a mural project that will celebrate Hoosick Falls. The project is being led by Donna Maria deCreeft, a professional artist who has been teaching art since 1989. This project is made possible in part through Community Art$Grant, a program funded by the Arts Center of the Capital Region through the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
