Henrietta Luke Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Henrietta Luke celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, November 4, at the Danforth Adult Care Center in Hoosick Falls. Staff and residents, along with her lifelong friend Luceil Eddy and long time friends Marge and Norman Lane, joined in the party.
Henrietta was born in Eagle Bridge at Posts Corners. She lived in that area most of her life. She went to school and high school in Cambridge. She was born Henrietta Bullard and married Mr. Luke late in her life. He passed away in the early 1980s.

Cheney Library Sponsors Books Are Fun Fair

The Cheney Library will be sponsoring a Books Are Fun Fair on November 20. Books Are Fun will be held at the Hoosick Falls Fire Department community room on the corner of Main Street and Griffin Avenue in the Village of Hoosick Falls. The fair will be held from 10 am until 3 pm. There will be many unique books and gift items from which to choose. Think of the holidays that are coming and get your gifts early.

National Memory Screening Day

The Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center will be offering free, confidential, memory screenings to the public on Tuesday, November 16, from 10 am to 2 pm in recognition of National Memory Screening Day. National Memory Screening Day is an annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America that emphasizes the importance of proper detection and treatment of memory problems and educates the public about successful aging and resources.
The Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center is located at 2 Blackberry Lane, 802-442-8525.

Hoosick Falls – Michael S. “Dougal” McDonough, 53, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, VT, after a long battle with colon cancer. He resided on Willow Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, with his wife Susan (Burch) McDonough.

Hoosick Halloween Parade Draws Big Crowd

It was colder this year than the past few years, but plenty of folks turned out for the Halloween parade in Hoosick Falls on Saturday evening, October 30. There were babies in adorable costumes, kids in imaginative ones and grown-ups all decked out as well. They gathered in Wood Park about 6 pm and then walked through the Village, returning to the Park for prizes and refreshments.

Uniqueness In A Recession – Health Center Offers Specialty Programming To Set Itself Apart
