Hoosick Falls – Helen Loretta (Minsky) Taylor, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Danforth Adult Home in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the wife of the late Carl A. Taylor, who died in 2005. They were married for sixty-three years.

Hoosick Falls Water Plant Wins Award

At the regular meeting of the Hoosick Falls Village Board on Tuesday, March 9, Mayor Matt Monahan announced that Hoosick Falls has been honored for having the Water Treatment Plant Project of the Year from Eastern New York State. Plant Operator Jim Hurlburt was commended for the fine work he has been doing at the Plant.

Hoosick Falls Election March 16

Hoosick Falls Village Trustees Ann Marie Bornt, Robert Downing and Michael Hickey are running unopposed for re-election on Tuesday, March 16. Though they are running unopposed it is important that Village residents show their support for these dedicated individuals by voting for them on election day.
Ward 1 will be voting at the CEO building on River Road. Wards 2, 3 and 4 will be voting in the Municipal Building on Main Street. The polls will be open from noon to 9 pm.

American Diabetes Alert Day

The Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center will host a free talk for caregivers, patients with diabetes and health care professionals on Friday, March 19, at 2 pm, presented by Deborah Henley, MD. Topics include diabetic foot problems, foot care, neuropathy and preventions and treatments. If you have any questions regarding to this event or to RSVP please contact Rhonda Hickey at 802-753-5000. St. Pat’s Parade Grand Marshals Are Chosen

Three 1952 St. Mary’s Academy graduates will be the Grand Marshals of the Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year. Patricia Carknard, Nancy McCabe and Margaret O’Malley, all raised in the village by Irish mothers, will all celebrate their 75th birthdays this year. They attended St. Mary’s Academy, and in the seventh grade their Irish teacher, Sister St. Gerard, made sure they all learned how to do the Irish Jig before they left her class. Dispatch Dilemma
