Hoosick Town Board Action – Bank Robbing The Town?

A Town safety deposit box came to light last year when the Town received a bill from Key Bank for $2,379. It appears the box was established when Sean Casey was Town Supervisor. No one has any idea what is in the box, and there is no record of any bills being sent to the Town before 2011. No one knows where the key to the mysterious box is. It takes at least two people to be present to open it, and none of those who rented the box are on the Board any longer. The Board members were not inclined to pay the fee. Sunshine And Rain Tournament

The annual Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday, September 8. In the morning the weather was absolutely gorgeous. It rained in the afternoon. It didn’t stop the volleyball enthusiasts. There appeared to be a sort of “Karen was tough feeling, so why should a little rain stop us.” And the sun came out again soon enough to dry everyone off.

HAYC3 Offers Babysitting Course

HAYC3 is offering a babysitting course for anyone 12 and older.  The class will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Youth Center, 115 Church Street, Hoosick Falls.
Participants will discuss basic safety, ideas for fun activities to keep children occupied, what to do in an emergency and other useful tips to make their experience as a babysitter successful and enjoyable.
There is a fee which includes training materials. It is $15 for HAYC3 members and $25 for non-members. Please register in advance by calling HAYC3 at 518-686-9050.

Hoosick – Gerald Schwartz, 75, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 7, 2012, at his residence on Shingle Hollow Road in Hoosick, NY. He had resided there with his wife of fifty-three years, Carol (Farrara) Schwartz.

Hit And Run Accident In Hoosick

The New York State Police in Brunswick, are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred on State Route 22 near the former Baker’s Nursery in  Hoosick early Monday morning, September 3. The Hoosick Rescue Squad, Hoosick Falls Fire Department, Hoosick Falls Police Department and the State Police responded to the scene.

North Hoosick Stewart’s Has $3M NY Lottery Winner

According to the Lottery News, “The New York Lottery Tuesday introduced James Jess of North Bennington, VT, as the newest top prize winner on the popular $3,000,000 Bonanza  scratch-off game. The 62 year old said there’s a reason he crosses the border to purchase lottery tickets in New York. ‘The games are just better in New York,’ Jess said.

Wysocki Farm To Use Solar Power

Travel along Route 22 in Hoosick and you can’t miss them. They are huge. There are two rows of panels facing “Solar South” that will soon be generating electricity for the Wysocki farm and home across the road. A Great Time At The Rensselaer County Schaghticoke Fair

The Rensselaer County Schaghticoke Fair has been in operation for 193 years. It is the third oldest Fair in New York State. Weather conditions were great for the entire week of the Schaghticoke Fair. On Thursday, August 30, the weather was absolutely perfect – sunny, cool and breezy. There was plenty of stuff for the whole family to see and do all day and all evening. Area farms and businesses were well represented. Friends and folks from nearby towns won blue ribbons with their vegetables and fruits.
