Meetings On The Uses Of The Rensselaer Plateau

The Rensselaer Plateau Alliance, New York Forest Owners Association (Capital District Chapter), Trout Unlimited (Home Waters) and the Black River Raiders are hosting two meetings about the places that matter most to the people of the Rensselaer Plateau. Cambridge Area Branch, WNF&GA Plant Sale

On Saturday, May 14, the Cambridge Area Branch of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden will hold its annual plant sale.  The sale will be held on the lawn of the Cambridge Methodist Church (next to the Post Office) from 9 am to noon.
A variety of perennials and annuals, including geraniums in full bloom, will be available. Also for sale will be Booth’s Blend, a must for every gardener.  Come early for the best selection and support the Farm and Garden in this their main fund-raiser. The sale will take place rain or shine.

Drug Take Back Day In Hoosick Falls

On Saturday, April 30, more than 40 people came to the Hoosick Falls municipal building meeting room to drop off unwanted prescription medications and over the counter tablets and capsules they had in their medicine cabinets. Thanks to a joint effort by the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3), the Hoosick Falls Police Dept. and the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Hoosick residents were able to discard these pills in a safe, environmentally friendly and free manner. They were participating in a program that was taking place across the United States.

Hoosick Grange News For April

April was Grange month all across the United States. At Hoosick Grange on April 27, the night started with a covered dish supper at 7 pm and the program at 8 pm. Many guests were present. The Lecturer introduced Scott Christianson from Sand Lake. He is the author of the book Freeing Charles. This is a story of an escaped slave and the history of the Underground Railroad.

Memorial Day Remembrance In Hoosick Falls

Memorial Day is a special day for all Americans and particularly the courageous men and women in our Armed Forces.
With American troops fighting for our freedom abroad and the memories of September 11 unfaded in our minds, this Memorial Day assumes greater meaning. The tragic events of that day and the senseless loss of life should further remind our nation of the debt we owe to those who have served our country. Perhaps an expression of gratitude could be shown by our participation in the parade by placing a patriotic float or marching.

Hoosick Townwide Tag Sale

The annual Hoosick Townwide Tag Sale will be held on Saturday, May 28, in and around the Village of Hoosick Falls. This event is being organized by the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3). A free map of registered sales will be available at the Youth Center, 115 Church Street, in Hoosick Falls, from 9 am to noon on Tag Sale Day.

Funeral Service For Gary L. Kroll

The Funeral Service for Gary L. Kroll will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 12 noon at the All Saints Church, located on NY Route 7 in Hoosick, NY.
Mr. Kroll passed away on April 17 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He left behind his partner of 41 years, Andrew Hanerfeld, and  their companion of 27 years, Sam Taylor.
Immediately following the service at All Saints, friends and loved  ones are invited to celebrate Gary’s life with a reception at the Hoosick  Grange on Hill Road.
