St. Mary’s Academy will be hosting another one of its fantastic Friday night dinners on Friday, January 7, (snow date January 8). Dinner includes spiral baked ham, potatoes, vegetable, coffee and dessert. Dinner will be served in the St. Mary’s Academy gym from 5 to 7 pm (or until supplies last). Dinners cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids 10 and under.
Take-out is available, or join us in the gym for dinner. All are welcome, we even have a coloring area for kids. Take the night off and let us cook and clean up. For more information, please call 518-686-4314 ext. 202.

Holiday Raffle Winners Announced
To help encourage local shopping, the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition organized a shopping incentive this season. Anyone who spent $5 or more at a participating business on Friday, December 10, (the night of the lighted Christmas Parade and visit from Santa) was eligible to enter a free drawing for gift certificates to be spent locally.
The winners were Ann Bornt ($50), Joan O’Neil ($25) and Jo Centanni ($25). All three winners are from Hoosick Falls. Congratulations!

On Friday, December 17, Beatrice Berle of Berle Farm on Beechwood Road in Hoosick welcomed Congressman-elect Chris Gibson, NYS Assemblyman Tony Jordan, Frank Murray, President and CEO, NYSERDA, Scott Collings, Rural Energy Coordinator for NY State, Rural Development Division of the US Dept. of Agriculture, Michael Stangl, Regional VP of Alteris Renewables, area farmers, HFCS students from the Government and Environmental Science classes and the media to the farm to view the pole mounted solar panel system that was recently installed. HF Junior Girl Scouts’ Christmas Cookie Exchange
Junior Girl Scout Troop 1104’s First Annual Christmas Cookie Exchange took place Wednesday evening, December 15, at the Immaculate Conception Church’s St. Joseph’s Room during their holiday party.
After their opening Pledge of Allegiance and Girl Scout Promise the scouts settled down to the movie, “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” nibbled popcorn, played games, made handmade holiday cards and personalized name signs.

Hoosick Grange News
Hoosick Grange had its Christmas Party on December 8 with the Mennonite Family Singers. Marion Hynick was in charge of the program, and she introduced them. They sang the traditional Christmas songs and some unusual ones that we didn’t know. We were encouraged to sing along with them. The children sang some songs all by themselves.

Local Girl Scouts Selling Cookies In January
Beginning January 3, local Girl Scouts will be selling Girl Scout cookies to their families, friends and local businesses. As a result of this annual fund-raiser, our local scouts benefit with programs, events and travel opportunities they might not otherwise have. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Cookies For Christmas

How do you get 767 boxes of homemade cookies to servicemen and women in Afghanistan and Turkey for Christmas? With a great deal of advanced planning. Suzanne and Gary Fitzpatrick have the project down to a science now. This is the fourth year they have sent Christmas packages to their son and other men and women with Hoosick Falls ties stationed overseas.
