Hoosick Town Board Action – Allard Replaces Folgert On The Planning Board

At the monthly Board meeting on Monday evening, December 13, Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly asked the Board to appoint Kevin Allard to the Planning Board to replace Carol Folgert whose seven year term expires the end of the year. Councilman Ryan asked the Supervisor if he had asked Folgert if she wanted to stay on the Board. The Supervisor replied he had not. Ryan was confused, he said. “If she is doing a good job, why does she have to be replaced,” he asked. He said he felt the Board currently had a good variety of representation. Hoosick Falls Community Band To Celebrate The Christmas Season With Its 28th Concert

The Hoosick Falls Community Band under the baton of Bill Gaillard will carry on a tradition begun by Pastor Robert Sprunger (d) in 1982. He was a clarinet player in the band and thought it would be nice to have a concert in his church.
The 2010 concert will be held at the First United Presbyterian Church on Wednesday evening, December 22, at 7:30 pm. All are cordially invited to attend this program which will feature traditional selections and four new ones that will cause a chuckle in many.

Seventh Annual Hoosick Bowl For Kids

Get your friends, family and co-workers together for a day of bowling and fun for a great cause. The Seventh Annual Hoosick Bowl for Kids is set for Saturday, January 15, at Barbecue Recreation on Route 22 in Hoosick. Proceeds benefit the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) and programs for youth and families.

Invest In Hoosick’s Youth

The Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) is seeking support from the community to continue its programming for youth and families. Although HAYC3 received a large federal grant this year, those funds are restricted and cannot be used for recreation programs, after school activities or basic facility needs, such as heat, electricity and maintenance. Community investment is needed to keep the Center operating at its current capacity.

Bonfire And Caroling On The Greenway

On Thursday evening, December 16, there will be a bonfire and caroling on the Hoosic River Greenway with surging voices and special effects. Meet at the old water works off Carey Avenue in Hoosick Falls. We’ll sing from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
Sheet music will be provided, so bring a headlamp or flashlight and dress very warmly. Rain will cancel the event, but…let it snow!
This event is sponsored by the Hoosic River Watershed Association and the Village of Hoosick Falls.

Lions Club Christmas Tree Sale This Saturday

On Saturday, December 4, the Town of Hoosick Lions Club will once again be selling Christmas trees in the Grand Union parking lot. Trees are local and fresh cut and will be ready to sell by 9 am.  Christmas tree sales are one of the Club’s main fund raisers and proceeds benefit the local community and sight, hearing and diabetes related causes. Trees go fast so be sure to come early.
