The Knights of Columbus Buffet breakfast  is Sunday, December 5, from  8 to 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Breakfast includes eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, home fries, muffins, orange juice, etc. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Johnsonville Rescue Squad Breakfast

The Johnsonville Rescue Squad at 4 River Road, Johnsonville, will be having its monthly breakfast on December 5 from 7:30 to 11:30 am. The menu consists of pancakes, French toast, eggs, hash browns, omelets, sausage, toast, fruit, juice and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 5-12. For information,  call 753-9549.

One Week – Two Fires

A fire on Spicer Road in Hoosick, in a building that houses Hardesty Waste Removal and RM Bacon Construction, was started when sparks from a grinding machine accidentally ignited flammable material nearby. According to Hoosick Fire Chief Bill Rifenburgh, Fire Departments from Hoosick, Hoosick Falls, West Hoosick, North Hoosick and Pittstown responded to the 12:37 pm call on Monday, November 22. Volunteers Make A Difference At The HACA Food Pantry

Volunteers made the difference in preparing for Thanksgiving at the HACA Food Pantry. Employees of St. Gobain filled the Pantry freezer with turkeys for the Thanksgiving boxes. Food Pantry volunteers unloaded and stocked over 6,000 pounds of food from the Regional Food Bank of NENY. Members of the HF Republican Committee and the Hoosick Rescue Squad assisted in assembling boxes on Thursday evening and returning on Friday evening to bag potatoes and fill and stack boxes. The potatoes were donated by Moses Vegetable Stand. Other volunteers will pick up pies and turkeys on Monday in time for distribution in the evening.

The Colors of the Rainbow: Girl Scouts Come Together

On Friday, November 5, more than 65 Girl Scouts, ranging in age from 5 to 17, and many of their leaders and mothers, came together in a burst of color for their annual “lock-in” sleepover at St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. This year’s theme of Colors of the Rainbow gave girls an opportunity to show their differences in ages, shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, personalities and interests while also representing their unity and the bright futures that Girl Scouts is helping them to achieve.

20 Years Of Singing Thanksgiving And Praise

For many people the holiday season begins with thoughts of food, presents and decorations. For Dottie Cross the upcoming holiday season begins in October with thoughts of music. Twenty years ago Dottie gathered the members of her Christ United Methodist Church choir with those of the West Hoosick Baptist Church choir for a special service of Thanksgiving and Praise. They performed their very special program the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It was a heartwarming start to the holiday season. Over the years the program has grown to as many as 50 singers and musicians from 18 churches for three performances.

Hoosick Planning Board Action – Hoosick To Get A Subway

On Monday evening, November 15, the Hoosick Planning Board saw no environmental impact in allowing a Subway Shop to open in the former car wash building next to the Sunoco station on Route 7. A site plan review had previously been approved. Property owner Sheila Duncan said she is hoping the new Subway will be open before Christmas.
