Committal Services For Frederick C. Brenenstuhl, Jr.

Hoosick – Committal services for Fred, with Military Honors, will be held on Saturday, May 29, at 11 am at the Hoosick Cemetery in Hoosick, NY.
Fred passed away at the Albany Medical Center on November 5, 2008. He was the husband of Evangeline Weller Brenenstuhl, father of Susan B. Brown and Sandra Smallwood-Libby USN Ret, and brother to Walter Brenenstuhl of North Petersburgh, NY.
The family welcomes all relatives and his many friends to join them on this day.

Buskirk – Estella C. Larson, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center where she had resided since 2004. She formerly resided on River Road in Buskirk, NY, and was the wife of the late James Larson Sr., who passed away in 1999.

It’s A Miracle!

When Theo and Melissa Knebel of Hoosick purchased a second miniature horse as a companion for the miniature horse they already owned, they never expected she was pregnant. Rensselaer County Legislature Meeting – May 2010

The family of Sylvester “Si” Close appeared in the well of the Rensselaer County Legislature during the presentation period on Tuesday to receive copies of the resolution passed last month honoring his memory. Giffy’s Chicken BBQ

Tree Planting In The Rain

On Saturday afternoon, May 8, a group of hearty volunteers planted over 200 trees around the perimeter of the new Rensselaer Land Trust Hoosic River Fishing and Boating Access Site on Route 67. The launch area is 1.4 miles east of Buskirk, just past Beck Road or one half mile west of Eagle Bridge on Route 67. The tree planting workday was done in partnership with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Though many public officials were invited to the event, none chose to participate in the rainy weather.

Rev. Dr. Thomas Azar To Speak At HACA Volunteer Brunch

The keynote speaker for the 2010 HACA Volunteer Appreciation Brunch will be Rev. Dr. Thomas Azar, Interim Pastor at First Baptist Church, Hoosick Falls. Rev. Azar grew up in New York City where he attended Hunter College. Following a powerful spiritual rebirth experience he attended Chandler School of Theology, receiving a Masters Degree in 1982 and a Doctor of Ministry in 1986 from Emory University in Georgia. In 1998 he completed an MA in Journalism from Marquette University in Wisconsin.

It Takes A Village…

On Saturday, April 24, Wood Park was filled with uniformed boys and girls and their families ready to start another Hoosick Youth Baseball and Softball season, and some Tee Ball, too. They walked from the Park to the fields, ready for action. On the major league field this year there is a new dirt infield and a new scoreboard in the outfield. The softball field also received a face-lift with an electronic scoreboard and some much needed improvements to the steps and stands.
