The Taconic Valley Community Group’s next meeting is May 12. The speaker is Kelly McGivern from New Lebanon Central High School. Kelly will explain to all how the Taconic Valley Community Group can set up a scholarship award for one student from New Lebanon High and one student from Berlin High School who will be working in community related activities. All area residents are invited to attend. Come meet your friends and neighbors. The meeting is at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall Rt. 20 in Lebanon at 12:30. Refreshments will be served. New Lebanon Mittnight Special Meeting

A special meeting of the New Lebanon Town Board was heard last Monday to discuss yet once again the zoning plight of Robert Mittnight Jr.
Mittnight Jr. has had zoning problems in New Lebanon of one sort or another now for almost nine years. Recently a New York State Supreme Court Judge ruled that Mittnight Jr. had until April 30 to remove building and other materials from his property. If he didn’t he would be looking at jail time.

New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School To Host A Memorial Day Assembly
On Friday, May 27, at 9 am, the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting its first Memorial Day Assembly to honor our servicemen and women and all who gave their lives in defense of our country.
All veterans and current members of any branch of the military are invited to join the American Legion Post #1236 of New Lebanon and the Berkshire Chapter 65 Vietnam Veterans of America in the high school gymnasium as our honored guests. Family and community members are also welcome and encouraged to attend the festivities in memory of our fallen heroes and in celebration of those who serve.
Two Locals On TVHS Teams In Regional Envirothon
Two Tech Valley High School teams competed in the regional Envirothon competition on April 28.
Twelve students divided equally on the teams will head to the New York State Power Authority’s Visitor Center at Lansing Manor in Blenheim to compete against other schools from throughout the region.
If they win – as they have done in each of the last three years – they will advance to the state competition in June at Keuka College. The results were not known by press time.

At the April 11 meeting of the New Lebanon Town Board, the latest installment of the Tale of the New Lebanon Town Hall came to light.
New Lebanon already has a Town Hall of course. But some people are not satisfied with it. This is understandable. It’s an old building and along the way some people seemed to have ignored it, and now it’s slowly falling apart and needs big money to fix it.

Lebanon Valley Woman’s Club Meeting
The Lebanon Valley Woman’s Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on April 8 at 12:30 pm at the Congregational Church in New Lebanon, Rt.20/22. The guest speaker will be Mary Linton, RN. She will discuss the pros and cons of taking additional vitamins and minerals. The presentation will include a description of the major functions of various vitamin groups and the importance of certain minerals for maintaining good health. A light lunch will be served.
