Command Sgt. Major Frank Wicks Will Advise Adjutant General On All Matters Concerning Soldiers
New York Army National Guard Command Sgt. Major Frank Wicks, a West Sand Lake resident, has been picked as the next New York National Guard State Command Sergeant Major by Major General Patrick Murphy, the Adjutant General of New York.
Wicks, a combat veteran, will replace Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Van Pelt, who retires in May 2011 after more than ten years in the position.

Cabin Fever Day
The annual Cabin Fever Day for ladies of North Chatham and surrounding area takes place on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 21, at the North Chatham United Methodist Church located on Route 203 in the hamlet.
All ladies of the general area are invited to meet in Fellowship Hall of the Church at noon with a food dish to share; place settings and drinks will be furnished.

Free Appliance Drop Off At Columbia County Waste Stations
New Lebanon Town Clerk Colleen Teal announced that Columbia County solid waste stations will accept appliances and metal during the months of February and March free of charge.
Metal appliances and items will be accepted at all solid waste stations with the exception of refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, water coolers and air conditioners which must be taken to the Greenport Transfer Station due to EPA regulations.

Mountain Road School Open House
Mountain Road School will host two events – an In-School Open House on Tuesday, February 8, from 9 am to 12 pm and an evening Open House on February 11, from 5 to 7 pm. The In-school event on February 8 will provide prospective parents and children with an opportunity to tour the school while classes are in session.
