Poet And Drummer Team Up For NL Library Programs

Poet and storyteller Nichael Czarnecki returns to the New Lebanon Library to co-present two programs with drummer Sue Spencer on Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31. All are welcome at these events, which are free and open to the public.

Mount Lebanon Volunteer Work Day

Join us for a volunteer work day on Saturday, May 30 from 10 am to 1 pm to prepare for our upcoming season. This work day will focus on cleaning up the North Family buildings – cleaning, painting, landscaping, etc. Participants should wear appropriate clothes and gear such as gloves and boots. Coffee and pastries from Blueberry Hill Café in New Lebanon will be offered. If you are interested, please contact us at programs@shakerml.org or call 518-794-9100.

The Shaker Museum And Library is hiring. Tour guides are needed to educate visitors about the North Family at Mount Lebanon and the Shakers who lived and worked here from 1787 to 1947. Please visit our website for more details: www.shakerml.org.

The Museum opens for the season at 10 am on Friday, June 19. Museum hours are 10 am to 4 pm through October 12.

New Lebanon CSD To Honor Veterans

On Friday, May 22, at 9 am, the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School will host its Fifth Annual Memorial Day Assembly to honor our service men and women, and all who gave their lives in defense of our country.

All veterans are invited to join the American Legion Post #1236 of New Lebanon and the Berkshire Chapter 65 Vietnam Veterans of America in the New Lebanon Jr/Sr High School gymnasium. Family and community members are also welcomed and encouraged to attend the festivities in memory of our fallen heroes and in celebration of those who serve.

Local Talents to Perform Together At New Lebanon Library

Local favorites David Grover, Linda Worster and Puggy Demary will be performing together at the New Lebanon Library on Sunday,  May 17 at 1 pm. The group will perform originals plus a mix of folk and rock from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. From the Beatles to Crosby, Stills and Nash, from Simon and Garfunkel to Joni Mitchell, this group is always wonderful. All are welcome and the event is free, although donations for the performers are encouraged.

David Grover has earned countless awards including a Grammy nomination and Artist of the Year. He spent many years as Arlo Guthrie’s lead guitar and band leader. Grover and his Big Bear Band have performed at the White House, opened the Goodwill Games, appeared on The Today Show, performed with the Detroit Symphony for their Youth Series, and played for the delegates of the United Nations.

Linda Worster has toured as a solo musician throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey, performing in many venues. She has opened for many well-known artists including Harry Chapin, David Bromberg, Bill Staines, and Joan Baez.

Puggy Demary has been performing in the Berkshires for decades. He plays bass, guitar and piano, and is a songwriter, as well.

New Lebanon – Mrs. Carolyn A. Christensen, 73, passed away on April 27, 2015, at her daughter’s house in Charlotte, NC of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Ronald F. Christensen, 73, passed away on May 5, 2015, at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY.

Dublin Porter Performs Music Of Ireland At New Lebanon Library

Irish music trio Dublin Porter will perform at the New Lebanon Library Friday, May 15 at 7 pm. The repertoire of this Berkshire band focuses on the dance music and airs of Ireland.

Author Stanley Woods-Frankel At The New Lebanon Library

Local author, Dr. Stanley Woods-Frankel will read from his novel Resurrection of Evil  at the New Lebanon Library on Thursday, May 14, at 7 pm. The reading will be followed by Q & A and discussion, after which Dr. Woods-Frankel will sign copies of his books.

The novel is the  second  in a macabre and humorous mystery series  about forensic dentist Steve Landau. In this installment, Steve  is recruited by a shadowy organization to identify the remains believed to be those of Hitler. His results are explosive and lead him on a trail through Europe and Russia.

Dr. Stanley Woods-Frankel is a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology, (a Forensic Dentist.) He has worked closely with the NYPD, written articles for professional publications, testified as an expert witness, lectured extensively, and appeared on radio and TV. In addition to his curriculum Vitae, Dr. Woods-Frankel completed the masters writing program at NYU, is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, and participates in a bi-monthly writer’s group.
