Relax Body And Mind At Nirvana Day Spa

The charming little building at 42 Church Street that formerly housed Sutton Real Estate is now Nirvana Day Spa, owned and operated by Kimberly Revet. The goal of the Spa is to bring balance to life. The staff hopes the services they offer help a person “surrender his or her senses, relax the mind, rejuvenate the body and replenish the soul.”

Medicare Beneficiaries Should Be Aware Of 2011 Changes

Open Enrollment For Senior Citizens Underway Through December 31
If you’re a senior citizen who relies on Medicare, the New York State Insurance Department says that you should be aware of changes for 2011 which may affect your health care benefits.
“Open enrollment is underway. In most cases, seniors who want to change their benefits and options must do so during this time period. Seniors should carefully review their plans and understand how they may be affected under new federal health care reforms,” Insurance Superintendent James Wrynn said.

TRAC Seeks Support

The TRAC (Together Reducing Alcohol and Drugs Coalition) group met Wednesday, November 17, to continue its coalition building and prevention efforts. The need to develop Memorandum of Understanding with local governments and community organizations to ensure that there is a community-wide commitment to drug and alcohol use prevention among teens was discussed. Members will be canvassing local organizations to talk about TRAC, enlist support and explore programs and initiatives that could receive federal funding in the near future.

Letter To The Editor – Let The Voters Decide

To the Editor:
I think that the voters should decide the issues.
For the past six years the Berlin School District has been wrestling with several issues that need to be resolved. One that needs to be addressed now is what footprint do we want for our Elementary school(s). It would seem that the BOE has been unable to figure this out and with both sides entrenched (as the Superintendent has said) I don’t see a resolution coming anytime soon.

Two predominate themes during the mid-term elections were job creation and the size of government, and yet the Town of Berlin is poised to both increase the size and expense of government and eliminate any chance for job creation should it take title to the Berlin Lumber property. I’m all for growth and modernization, but this borders on obese.

After reading with disbelief Mr. Kramer’s reporting of the Berlin Town Board’s last meeting, and at the risk of getting everyone hot under the collar (and there are a lot of hot collars around here lately), I would like to suggest to The Eastwick Press that they start an editorial column. This would allow Mr. Kramer to put forth his viewpoints on all manner of subjects (i.e. Berlin Lumber as home or not to the Berlin Town government) without letting them taint his reporting. Kianna Comes Home

Kianna McCaughin,  Katarina Walters’ baby who was born last October with Vacero syndrome, finally came home from Boston’s Children’s Hospital in  October. She had been there since the June fund raiser that so may contributed to. She had several surgeries that stabilized her and is now gaining weight everyday.

Lebanon Valley Farmers Market Bizarre Bazaar

Throughout this past summer the Midtown Mall in New Lebanon was the site of an amazing success. What was this success? The Lebanon Valley Farmers Market that took place every Sunday from 10 am until 2 pm.
In response to the tremendous outpouring of interest from customers and vendors alike, maybe because we all miss the warmth and sunshine of summer a little, too, the First Annual Holiday Bizarre Bazaar will take place on Sunday, December 12, from 10 am until 2 pm. This event/market is primarily an indoor event though there may be some overflow into the “Green” if there is enough of the right kind of snow to build snowmen, make snow angels or sip piping hot, wonderful locally roasted coffee.

Berlin Free Town Library Hosts Holiday Concert

The Berlin Free Town Library will host area musicians Karen Webster, Leslie Green, Martha von Schilgen and Dan LaMontagne for a special holiday fund raising concert on Friday, December 10, at 7 pm. This concert will take place at the Berlin First Baptist Church on Main Street in Berlin. The musicians will provide seasonal music and, during intermission, a slide show of the Berlin Free Town Library’s Summer Reading Program will be shown. Desserts will be provided by Library volunteers. The December 10 concert is free; however, donations will benefit the Library.
