Hoosick Town Board Unhappy About Route 7/22 Intersection

Board members expressed their frustration after a meeting with the NYS DOT regarding the roadway changes at the intersection of Routes 7 and 22 that resulted from the construction of the new bridge. The intersection has already been changed once, with some improvement. However, there are times when cars wanting to turn “toward Bennington” will have to be extremely watchful for cars turning “toward Hoosick Falls” and cars continuing on Rt. 7 passing the cars waiting to turn off, etc.

Hoosick Falls Landlords Fuming Over Water Rates

Three landlords attended the Hoosick Falls Village Board meeting on Tuesday, November 9. They were furious over the rates they are being charged for water and sewer. Now that water meters are in and working they are seeing a big difference in the amount of water they are being billed for and the amount of water their tenants use. Henrietta Luke Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Henrietta Luke celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, November 4, at the Danforth Adult Care Center in Hoosick Falls. Staff and residents, along with her lifelong friend Luceil Eddy and long time friends Marge and Norman Lane, joined in the party.
Henrietta was born in Eagle Bridge at Posts Corners. She lived in that area most of her life. She went to school and high school in Cambridge. She was born Henrietta Bullard and married Mr. Luke late in her life. He passed away in the early 1980s.

Girl Scout Junior Troop 1752 Gets Fit

Girl Scout Troop 1752 has been very active earning their Fun and Fitness Badges and Adventure Sports badges. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Lisa Garnett for teaching our troop Zumba.  Mrs. Garnett came out to Berlin Elementary and spent an hour of great fun with the girls teaching them all the Zumba moves to the latest music. The junior girl scouts had an amazing time and loved all the dance moves. Who knew exercise could be such fun? Lisa teaches classes at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 and on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7.
The girls also spent a separate fabulous afternoon kayaking and canoeing at Dyken Pond with the wonderful staff there. The girls were especially thrilled with Mr. Trevor. For most of the girls, this was their first time in a kayak or canoe, and he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Although the weather was a little chilly, it was an exciting fun filled day for all. We would like to thank everyone at Dyken Pond for a great afternoon.

Cheney Library Sponsors Books Are Fun Fair

The Cheney Library will be sponsoring a Books Are Fun Fair on November 20. Books Are Fun will be held at the Hoosick Falls Fire Department community room on the corner of Main Street and Griffin Avenue in the Village of Hoosick Falls. The fair will be held from 10 am until 3 pm. There will be many unique books and gift items from which to choose. Think of the holidays that are coming and get your gifts early.

Texas Hold’em

The Veterans of Stephentown will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, November 20, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located on Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free Thanksgiving buffet will be served at the first break.
No advance registration is required, and a donation of $35 per player is accepted. Players can make an additional $10 donation at the door for 1,000 extra chips. This tournament will pay one place for every ten players.
