New Lebanon Library November Events

• Friday, November 5 – Birds For Books at 2 pm. Schuyler and Colby Gail from the Bar None Ranch discuss farming, chickens and locally produced food.
• Friday, November 5 – Coffeehouse Night at 6 pm will feature the music of singer/songwriter Linda Worster. Light refreshments will be served.
• Sunday, November 7 – the New Lebanon Book Group will meet at 11 am to discuss Both Ways is the Only Way I Want It by Maile Meloy. This book of short stories was chosen one of the 10 Best Books of 2009 by The New York Times Book Review.

The Grafton Book Group To Discuss Dog As Narrator

The book discussion group of the Grafton Community Library will be reading  The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein for November. This is a  heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty and hope.  The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders and absurdities of human life as only a dog could tell it.

No Need To Cook This Thanksgiving!

In lieu of baskets, the Berlin Community Food Closet is pleased to serve a free meal for all community members to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day at the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church. Enjoy a home cooked meal with no clean up…bring the whole family and sit at your own table…bring home your leftovers…and transportation will be provided if needed! Buffet hours are from 1 to 4 pm. Food For Fines At The New Lebanon Library

Put your library fines to work for the community. During the week of November 15-20, the New Lebanon Library will exchange food for fines.  Fines for overdue materials (regardless of amount) will be cleared from your record at a rate of one fine for one food item donated. Only overdue items – not lost or damaged items – are eligible.

Open House At Mountain Road School

The Stephentown Food Pantry Needs Food For Holiday Baskets

The Stephentown Food Pantry wishes to thank all the generous people who have donated money, food and fresh garden produce to the pantry this year.
We could also use your support toward supplying holiday baskets for Thanksgiving.  We are in need of frozen turkeys (10-12 lb.). If you are a gardener with a surplus of potatoes this fall and would donate some, please bring a bag or box of them to the pantry.  We would like your food donations brought to the Stephentown Federated Church during our regular Saturday morning hours on November 6 so we know how much more will be needed.

Community Drum Circle

Musician and educator Allen Livermore leads the a Community Drum Circle on Tuesday, November  9, at 7 pm at the New Lebanon Library. The free program, which offers participants the opportunity to play as part of drum circle, improvise and have fun, is open to all ages and all levels of prior experience. Participants can bring their own drums, shakers, cowbells and other percussion instruments or use ones provided by Livermore.

Joshua Julien Promoted

Joshua M. Julien has been promoted to the rank of private two in the U.S. Army. Julien, a cannon crew member, is assigned to the 1st Battalion, 19th Field Artillery Company, Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.  He has served in the military for less than one year.
Julien is the son of Shawn R. Julien of Orchard Lane, West Sand Lake, NY, and Shirley A. Pasquareillo of Cottage St., Averill Park, NY.
The private is a 2007 graduate of Averill Park High School.

Brunswick Elks Holiday Craft Fair

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Brunswick Elks will be holding their Annual Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, November 13, from 9 am to 3 pm. Over 30 vendors will have displays. The Lodge is located on Rt. 2 in Brunswick. The Fair is open to the public, and admission is free. The kitchen will be open and Santa will be available for pictures.
Our profits will help support many of the charities the Ladies support such as Needy Local Families, Hospice, Cerebral Palsy, VA Hospital and more
