HAYC3 Coalition Advisory Committee To Meet

The Coalition Advisory Committee of the Hoosick Area Youth Center & Community Coalition (HAYC3) will meet on Tuesday, November 9, at 7:30 am at the Falls Diner on River Road (Route 22) in Hoosick Falls. Meetings are open to the public and usually last about one hour.

Letter To The Editor – Berlin Never Looked So Good

To the Editor:
I have lived in Berlin for 39 years and have never seen the volume of young children, young adults and parents in celebration of Halloween.
I want to thank all of you for your courtesy and responsible behavior that evening and apologize for running short on the treats.
The Town has never looked better the morning after.

Hoosick Grange met on October 27. Master David Cornell conducted the business meeting. Marion and Omer Brenenstuhl were in charge of the Lecturer’s program.

Darrow School Hosts Empty Bowls Benefit

On Wednesday, November 17, at 6 pm, Darrow School will host Empty Bowls, a special community meal designed to bring awareness to world hunger. Proceeds from the event, which is also supported by the Mountain Road School in New Lebanon, with food by Brock Food Services, will benefit Charlie’s Pantry, a New Lebanon based food bank, and Oxfam America, one of the country’s largest nonprofits dedicated to creating lasting solutions to poverty, hunger and injustice. On November 11 we are honored to honor our Veterans with our Annual Covered Dish Supper. Free to all; bring a covered dish to share. Doors open at 5 pm, and the meal will start at 6 pm. There will be karaoke and music with Daniel Schnoop. We will have a 50/50 raffle, coffee and tea, great company, good food and dance. Come and enjoy! Berlin Fire Department Open House And Wet Down

The Berlin Fire Department, Rescue Squad and Auxiliary invite you to an Open House from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, November 6, at the Firehouse on Community Avenue. Learn about fire prevention and look at the apparatus and equipment; the new fire truck and ambulance will be on display. There will be a free Blood Pressure Clinic, 911 House Numbers (given to Berlin residents only), a whale program, an exhibit of Poster Contest Winners and Door Prizes. Light refreshments will be provided by Stewart’s. Stop in and see what’s happening and learn how to become a member.
The wet-down for the new truck will follow from 2 to 4 pm.

The Stephentown Library will be closed on Thursday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. We will be open Wednesday, November 10, and Friday, November 12, as usual to meet your needs.
• Tween Night – Join us on Friday, November 12, at 6:30 pm for fun for Tweens at the Stephentown Memorial Library. This popular monthly program for tweens age 10-14 is a great way to spend a weekend evening. This month features a celebration of Native American heritage with special guest Fidel Moreno, who will lead an interactive program with Big Drum and Two Native American Ghost Stories in the Community Room. We will have snacks and more. Come on out and bring your friends!
