Grafton Lakes State Park will be holding its third Annual Trick or Treat Nature Trail on Saturday, October 30, from 5 to 7 pm. Kids can go on a fun adventure on the trail, challenge their senses with some nature mysteries and, by trail’s end, find some treats. The trail departs from Shaver Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton.

Hundreds Turn Out For Walk To Prevent Suicide

On Sunday evening, October 3, the crowd of all ages, from families with youngsters in strollers, to teens, to seniors, kept growing and growing as people gathered for the first annual Community Walk to Prevent Suicide. This year the walk was in memory of two HFCS teens. Joe Sweeney took his life about six months ago. Tyler Marcoux’s death was very recent. Cherry Plain Cell Tower On Schedule

“Everything is on target” with the Cherry Plain cell tower, according to landowner Doug Goodermote. Despite earlier reports that work on the project had ground to a halt because of a legal matter concerning the proposed source of gravel for the access road, Goodermote and the tower builder both say that the work has been and is proceeding on schedule. Goodermote noted that Tim Giumarra Logging & Excavating was busy on Wednesday, despite the rain, working on the access road and digging a foundation for the tower.

Sunday, October 3, a New England Football Semi-pro League playoff game between the Rampage of Central Vermont and the Southern Vermont Storm was held at the HFCS Ken Baker Field. The Storm is made up of players from Bennington, Fair Haven, Jacksonville, Manchester, Pownal and Sandgate, VT, Lanesborough, North Adams and Williamstown, MA, and Johnsonville, Troy, Shushan and Valley Falls, NY. It is also made up of Alex Hansen, Jeffery Hunt, Sean Lennon, Shawn Morrison, Warren O’Grady, Don Skott, Gregg Stroffoleno and Francis Tilley, III of Hoosick Falls and William Telford of White Creek.
