The Sage College of Albany announced that Lisa Dooley of Grafton has graduated from the College magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies. Dooley has also been honored with membership in Alpha Sigma Lamda.

Laura Dooley On Sage College Dean’s List
Laura Dooley from Cropseyville has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for the Spring 2010 Semester at Sage College of Albany. Dean’s Honor List students obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 after completing a course load of 12 credit hours or more, and receiving no letter grade below a C.
Danielle Hoffman Makes MCLA Dean’s List
Danielle Hoffman of Stephentown was placed on the Dean’s List at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) for the spring 2010 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s Honor List, matriculated students must be enrolled in six or more credit courses, attain a grade point average of 3.25 or better and have no incomplete grades.
Petersburgh Students Named To Morrisville State College Dean’s List
Morrisville State College recently announced that two Petersburgh students were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2010 semester. They are Kaitlyn Hyde and Nathaniel Patsos.
To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must achieve an average of 3.0 to 3.99 for the semester and complete 12 credit hours.
Morrisville State College offers bachelor and associate degrees including a new associate degree in renewable energy technology.

Berliners Approve Referendum; May Be Too Late

The vote was a complete turnaround from the statement made by taxpayers last December. Then voters in the Town of Berlin rejected the proposal to acquire the Berlin Lumber site by a margin of over 60%. This past Monday close to 60% of the voters approved the plan to use up to $499,500 from the Capital Reserve Fund to purchase the property for a municipal center. The tally was 186 votes in favor versus 137 negative votes.

Petersburgh’s Case Against Shaving Mill Dismissed

Petersburgh Town Justice Paul Montgomery sent out his ruling on July 19 in the Town’s enforcement action against Brian O’Donovan concerning his shaving mill operating behind the gravel pit off Church Hollow Road. The Town brought the action to compel O’Donovan to get site plan approval for the shaving mill under its 2003 Site Plan Review Law. O’Donovan and his attorney maintained that he was exempt from this law.

On Monday, July 12, a ceremony was held in the entrance foyer of the Rensselaer County Legislative Chambers unveiling a memorial to Lt. Col. William J. O’Brien and Sgt. Thomas A. Baker; both made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and both are recipients of this nation’s highest military honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor. Reynolds Foundation Disburses $12k For Community Work

On Saturday, July 18, members of the local Reynolds Foundation committee presented $12,000 in checks to the following organizations for their community work: the Town of Hoosick Community Band, Town of Hoosick Historical Society, Hoosick Area Church Association Food Pantry, Hoosick Falls Girl Scout Service Program, Hoosick Falls Girl Scout Troop #1144, Cheney Library Children’s Reading Program, Hoosick Veterans Memorial, Hoosick Falls Boy Scout Troop #63 and to the local Reynolds group as a reserve.
