Final NHFD Kids Dance Of The Season

The North Hoosick Fire Department will hold its final Kids Dance of the 2009-2010 school year on Friday, June 18, from 7 to 10:30 pm at the firehouse on Rt. 22. Students in grades four through eight who attend Hoosick Falls Central, Cambridge Central or St. Mary’s Academy are invited to finish out the school year. This dance will complete our 12th year of providing kids dances to the community.
The summer pool dance at the Town of Hoosick Community Pool will be on Friday, July 9. Tickets may be purchased by attending this final dance.

Funeral Notice For Hilda S. Allen

Canon Clinton Dugger will officiate a service in remembrance of Hilda Allen. The family will greet friends at the conclusion of the service to share memories. Hoosic River Watershed Assn. Summer Excursions

June 27:  Rick Dovey will lead a bike ride from Pownal, VT, to Buskirk. The group will meet at the Pownal Post Office (Rte. 346 just west of Rte. 7) at 10 am for a leisurely 40-mile ride through the Hoosic Valley to  the Buskirk covered bridge and back. All-Star Photo Exhibit At Darrow School

The beauty of the Mount Lebanon landscape and the historic Shaker buildings that grace it have long provided inspiration for photographers. In June and July, Darrow School will be the site of the exclusive exhibit “Visions of Mount Lebanon,” a fund-raiser honoring the Shaker Museum and Library’s sixtieth anniversary. The exhibit, located in the School’s extraordinary Joline Arts Center, is open to the public daily between June 27 and July 3, from 12 to 5 pm. Admission is free.

A recent press release from NYS Police officer Maureen Tuffy stated “While police may never know why Mr. Martinez crossed over into the westbound lane of traffic, leading to the head-on collision with a tractor-trailer, driver fatigue may have been a factor.” The fatal accident occurred around 5 am Sunday morning on Route 7 in Pittstown. Bentleys Cavern Preserve Opens

About twenty-five people gathered in the rain Sunday, June 6, for the official opening of Bentleys Cavern Preserve in Berlin. The land was donated to the Conservancy last year by Robert Bentley and the late Eleanor Bentley through their daughter Randi Bentley. The opening was attended by Robert and Randi Bentley, a number of officers and members of the Conservancy and a few local people including Berlin Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger.
