Friends Of Dyken Pond Buy Otter Cove Parcel

The Friends of the Dyken Pond Environmental Center have purchased a 23 acre parcel of land near the center of the Dyken Pond Center’s developed area. The parcel has frontage on “Otter Cove” beginning at a point right next to the Center’s boat launch. The back of the property extends to a point very near the “Amphitheater” which the Center uses for some of its programs.

Stimulus Money Provides Face Lift For Hoosick Meadows

New York State received $3,507,722,854 in stimulus money from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. The Department of Housing and Urban Development received $15 million. Luke Hoag, 2, of Hoosick Falls, has been named a Hero of the 21st annual Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. As a Walk Hero, Luke will inspire more than 8,000 participants to walk up to 26.2 miles along the historic route of the Boston Marathon® and raise money for cancer care and research through Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its Jimmy Fund. Celebrating The Hudson 100 Years Ago

This is the year of Hudson 400 – the celebration of 400 years since Henry Hudson’s exploration of the river that bears his name and Samuel de Champlain’s exploration further north and 200 years since Robert Fulton’s maiden voyage up the Hudson in the first commercially successful steamboat. In another celebration 100 years ago, New Yorkers pulled out all the stops commemorating the 300th and 100th anniversaries respectively of those events.
