Cropseyville Resident Receives Bronze Star On Veterans Day

Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan – 1st Sgt. James Meltz, of Cropseyville, a New York Army National Guard Soldier, has been awarded the Bronze Star for Valor  in Combat in a Veterans Day Ceremony in Afghanistan. Sgt. Sheffer’s Dairy Hosts Land Conservation Workshop

The Sheffer family of Sheffer’s Grassland Dairy in Hoosick hosted a grazing land conservation farm workshop in conjunction with the Rensselaer County Soil & Water Conservation District and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service on Thursday, November 6. A lunch of local pastured beef hamburgers and hot dogs was enjoyed by everyone in the open under rainy skies.

HACA To Buy Food Closet Space

On November 11, following the recommendation of the Development Committee, the Hoosick Area Church Association approved a motion to purchase the former Hoosick Falls Credit Union building at 26 John Street as the HACA Community Service Center. New Bar Causes Problems

Jim Martinez who lives with his family in the Thorpe Block and has businesses in the same building on Church St. complained to the Village Board at Tuesday evening’s Board meeting about the noise and profanity coming from the recently opened Half Time bar across the street. The urinating and vomiting in the adjoining parking lot was extremely offensive, he said. “What is the law, and what can be done?” he asked. [Read more…] about New Bar Causes Problems
