Hurricane Sandy Aftermath
Many Stephentown area folks are eager to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. A local group has asked that the Stephentown Memorial Library be the collection point for donations, and we are pleased to help. The group asks for the following donations: warm winter outerwear for infants, children and adults to include coats, hats, jackets, scarves, gloves, winter pants, flannel shirts, sweaters, warm boots and warm socks, baby items such as diapers, wipes, stuffed toys, formula and baby food, bottled water and batteries, warm blankets and hand warmers, money for gas and tolls.

Troop 65 Boy Scouts Sell Holiday Wreaths
Boy Scouts will again sell wreaths this holiday season. The beautiful 14″ Fraser Fir wreath sells for $14 plain, $16 with red or burgundy bow or $18 complete with bow and decorations. Wreaths are delivered to your home in Hoosick, Berlin, Bennington or Cambridge areas before Thanksgiving or can be picked up at the First Baptist Church on Sunday, November 18, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Food For Fines At The New Lebanon Library
Put your library fines to work for the community. During the week of November 12 through November 17, the New Lebanon Library will exchange food for fines. Fines for overdue materials (regardless of amount) will be cleared from your record at a rate of one fine for one food item donated. Only overdue items – not lost or damaged items – are eligible.

Darrow School Fall Play: A New Take On A Classic
Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Darrow School on Friday, November 9, at 7:30 pm and Saturday, November 10, at 3:30 pm as the Darrow Theater Workshop presents its fall musical, There’s No Place Like Home, an original production based on L. Frank Baum’s famous work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Lisa Little Wolf To Lecture On Native American Culture
Lisa Little Wolf will talk about Native American culture at 7 pm on Thursday, November 15, at the New Lebanon Library. She will dress in traditional garb and tell about the traditions of different geographic regions, which have changed little over the years and are passed along through families.

Stephentown Veterans Day Celebration – Revised
The Veterans of Stephentown Area invite you to join them in their celebration of Veterans Day on Saturday, November 10. The program will start at 11 am in the Veterans Memorial Park, located between Rts. 22 and 43 in Stephentown.
The Stephentown Veterans will honor its WW II Veterans.
Following the celebration the Veterans invite the public to join them at 12:30 pm in the Stephentown Fire Hall for a spaghetti dinner. The Fire Hall is located at 35 Grange Hall Road, a good will offering will be accepted.
For Stephentown shut-ins only, call 658-2448 by noon on Friday, November 9, to make arrangements for home delivery.
Dyken Pond Center Wreath Fundraiser – Revised
The Friends of the Dyken Pond Center are selling Balsam fir wreaths. Each 18 inch wreath will be packed full of aromatic balsam fir, pine cones, a large red bow and a collectible original Dyken Pond nature ornament that can be kept for years to come. This is a pre-order sale, and all wreaths must be ordered by November 13. The cost is $20. There are various pick-up options beginning on November 17. Order forms can be downloaded from our website at www.dykenpond.org or orders may be placed by contacting the Center at 658-2055 or mpasanen97@yahoo.com.

Doug Schmolze To Perform At New Lebanon Library
Berkshire musician Doug Schmolze will be performing at the New Lebanon Library on Friday, November 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public, although donations for the performer are appreciated.
Schmolze’s program will include traditional folk songs and sing-along favorites as well as songs from the American songbook from the 30s, 40s and 50s from composers such as Harold Arlen, Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hammerstein. He will also perform solo guitar pieces from Latin American and Spanish composers including Flamenco.

Grafton VFD And Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast
The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary will be holding an All You Can Eat Buffet Breakfast on Saturday, November 24, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy & biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu. The cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and under and free for kids five and under.
Volunteer Fire Department Texas Hold’em In Stephentown
The Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, November 17, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5:30 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break, and refreshments will be available.
