Petersburgh Adopts 2013 Budget With 4.25% Tax Increase

What began as a Public Hearing on Petersburgh’s Preliminary Budget turned into another budget workshop after errors were discovered in the budget document which, when corrected, would have led to a tax levy increase larger than the Board had intended. The Board went through it again and made more cuts and ended up with a tax levy increase of 4.25%.

Eight Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad members attended the 29th Vital Signs conference held in Syracuse, October 18-21. Members were President/Training Officer Bill Gaillard, Vice President/Assistant Training Officer Deborah Lohnes, Treasurer Susan Eddy, Captain Rita Kittel, Accountant Roseann Miller, Weapons of Mass Destruction Expert Ronald Sampath, Nathaniel Moseley and Pamela Mayhew.

Festival Of Wreaths A Success

Friends of the Cheney Library were dressed in their holiday best for what they hope will be their first annual “Love Your Library Festival of Wreaths” Saturday evening, November 3. The Immaculate Conception Church hall was decorated with white holiday lights, adding a festive air to the event. The 130 people who attended enjoyed delicious sweets, beautiful violin music and had plenty of time to browse past the 40 wreaths to be auctioned.

Fall-In On A Fall Day

The Fall-In @ the Armory day, sponsored by HAYC3, was touted as “a community gathering and celebration of the season.” Fortunately, the weather was very pleasant on Saturday, October 27. There was fun outside and inside the Armory. The Hoosick Community Band played. Hoosick Grange met on October 24. Master David Cornell presided over the meeting. After taking care of business, they had the Lecturer’s program. Martha Babbitt, Delegate at Large, went to New York State Grange at Cortland. She gave a very detailed report. She told us about the State officers reports and had pictures. We will be getting more reports at our November 7 Pomona meeting at Center Brunswick. Martha was thanked For a very informative report.

HFCS PTA And The Hoosick Federal Credit Union Team Up To Offer Family Movie Night
The Hoosick Falls Central School PTA proudly announces a family night film series co-sponsored with the Hoosick Federal Credit Union. This is an opportunity for families to enjoy an outing free of charge. The first movie scheduled is “Madagascar 3” on Friday, November 16, at 6 pm in the High School auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 pm, and food items will be for sale with the proceeds going to the Hoosick Falls PTA.

PVMCC Veterans Day Supper
The annual PVMCC Veterans Day Covered Dish Supper is at 6 pm this Saturday, November 10, at the Veterans Hall, 71 Main Street, in Petersburgh.
The whole community is invited to join us in honor and memory of our veterans. The Two Bits String Band and Friends will provide music through dinner and into the evening.
