Berlin Library Book And Bake Sale

The Berlin Free Town Library announces its annual Book and Bake Sale.  What could be better than a sweet treat and a stack of books to read? The Book and Bake Sale will take place at the Library on Saturday, August 25, from 9 am to 1 pm. The Library Board asks for your support through donations of new or gently used books and items for the bake sale.

Don’t Miss The Excitement At The Stephentown Memorial Library

Free Daily Lunch For Kids Through August 17
The Stephentown Library is pleased to have been chosen as an open feeding site through this federally funded lunch program. We will be serving a healthy bag lunch each weekday from 12 to 1 pm in the community room. There is no charge and no income or residency requirement. No preregistration is required. All children 18 and under are encouraged to take advantage of this program. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The program will run until August 17, Monday through Friday.

August Events At The New Lebanon Library

The New Lebanon Library announces the following August events. All of these events are free and will take place at the library which is located at 550 State Route 20.
• August  15, 22, 29 (event is on Wednesdays) – Tales for Tots Story Hour – 10:30 am. Story hour includes crafts, songs and movement activities.
• August  15, 22, 29 (event is on Wednesdays) – Hug-A-Bye Babies – noon; age appropriate stories, songs and movement activities for our youngest patrons and their caregivers.
• August  16, 23, 30 (event is on Thursdays) – Bright Beginnings Story Hour and Play Group – 11 am to 2 pm. Meet other parents and care providers while your child aged 0-5 hears a story then socializes with other children in an unstructured, educational setting.

Andrew Morin On Commendation List And Honored As Axinn Scholar At Southern Vermont College

Andrew Morin of Hoosick Falls was named to the Commendation List at Southern Vermont College. The Commendation List recognizes part time students who have earned a minimum grade point average of 3.25 during the spring semester. This spring, Morin was also honored as an Axinn Scholar for his involvement in community service. Shawnee Webster Receives Honors At Southern Vermont College

Shawnee Webster of Hoosick received the Academic Excellence Award in Criminal Justice and the Estelle B. Atwood Scholarship at Southern Vermont College’s Honors Convocation this spring in Bennington, VT. She also received the Women’s Soccer Player of the Year Award at the College’s athletic banquet this spring.

David Grover In New Lebanon

Renowned Berkshire musician David Grover will perform at New Lebanon Library on August 17 at 7 pm. The event, which is oriented towards teens and adults, is free and open to the public.
Grover has been compared to Paul Simon, James Taylor and Raffi. His folksy message songs make him irresistible across the generations.  He spent many years as Arlo Guthrie’s lead guitar and band leader and his Big Bear Band has performed at the White House.
The Library is located at 550 State Route 20, ¼ mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.

Youth 2 Youth Berlin Teen Event

Youth 2 Youth Berlin will be hosting an end of summer teen event, Messy Games, at the Berlin Middle/High School on Saturday, August 18, from 1 to 4 pm. Events will include a chocolate syrup slip and slide, a dunk booth and many more.

Texas Hold’em In Stephentown

The Veterans of Stephentown and the Stephentown Fire Department will sponsor a joint Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, August 18, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, located at 35 Grange Hall Road in Stephentown. The doors will open at 5 pm and close at 6 pm. Play begins at 6:15 sharp.
A free buffet will be served at the first break and refreshments will be available.

The 27th Annual Run For The Roses

The 27th annual “Run for the Roses” will take place on Sunday, August 12, at Grafton Lakes State Park in Grafton.  Events include a 5k foot race, 2.5 mile scenic nature walk and a kids’ 1 mile fun run.  Proceeds will benefit the Grafton Community Library and the Courtney Carelli Foundation for Literacy.
A medal and a bouquet of roses will be awarded to the top male and female runners. All entrants receive a T-shirt and a book. The first 150 pre-registrants will receive a long sleeve T-shirt. Entrants for all events may pick up their packets at the Park’s main parking lot on the day of the race. Ernest Parker Committal Service

Committal services for Ernest Parker will be held on Monday, August 13, at 11 am at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.  Ernest was the husband of Gloria Parker of Yuma, AZ.  Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York.
