Tsatsawassa Fire Company Monthly Breakfast

The Tsatsawassa Protective Fire Company will hold its monthly breakfast on Sunday, April 15, with servings from 8 to 11 am at a cost of $6 per person. Breakfast consists of your choice of French toast or pancakes, as well as bacon or sausage, toast, orange juice, applesauce, beverages and eggs prepared to your specifications.

Beryl Moul Scholarship

The Beryl H. Moul Memorial Grange Scholarship was established in 1958 by West Sand Lake Grange #949 in memory of prominent Grange Member Beryl H. Moul.  Applicants must be Rensselaer County residents (for at least 4 years) and must be accepted in an accredited 2 or 4 year college program pursuing a career in agriculture, home economics, nursing, natural resource management, environmental engineering or pharmacology.

Berlin – Laura M. Perez Hill gently entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at her home in Berlin, NY. Born in Guanica, Puerto Rico, on November 10, 1929, Laura was the daughter of Eduardo Perez Seda and Maria Acosta. She attended elementary and high school in Guanica and earned a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Puerto Rico in 1952.

Grafton/Brunswick – Catherine ‘Kaye’ F. Looney Grogan, 87, of Goodman Avenue, Brunswick, NY, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at her residence after a long illness.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah Looney and Alpharetta Wood Looney and the wife of the late Elmer A. Grogan. She was raised in Grafton, NY, resided in Speigletown, NY, and for the past 22 years lived in Brunswick. Kaye was a graduate of Troy High School, Cornell Medical College in New York City and Hudson Valley Community College.

Armory Is Still A Hot Topic

Due to vacation issues the regular meeting of the Hoosick Town Board was held on Tuesday, April 3. The future of the Armory still dominated a portion of the meeting, though there appeared to be a kinder, gentler approach from all sides. Once again the meeting room was filled to overflowing.

A Pennsylvania Bucktail In Stephentown

Timothy Mulholland, a down to earth aging country boy from north central Pennsylvania, was at the Stephentown Heritage Center Monday evening to tell of his experience in the Civil War, “some 20 years ago.” Tim joined the Pennsylvania “Bucktails” regiment right after the rebels fired on Fort Sumter and stayed on right through to Appomattox Court House.
