Berlin H.S. Basic Woodworking Class Donate Toys

Berlin High School’s Basic Woodworking class presented wooden toys to Jane Gazelone for the Berlin Chapter of the Capital District Beginnings program.  Students worked on their wooden toys as a community service learning project under the direction of Technology Education teacher Dawn Wetmore. Free Haircuts For Vets In Petersburgh

Beginning Monday, December 19, Victoria Clark, a local retired Licensed Hair Stylist, will offer free haircuts at the Petersburgh Veterans  Memorial Community Center for all veterans and for families of  deployed servicemen and women.  Appointments  will be available on a regular basis Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 am to 12 pm, Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 pm and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Hours  may be extended to meet the demand. The PVMCC is located at 71 Main Street in Petersburgh. To take advantage of this generous offer, please call Vicki in advance at 518-658-0054 to schedule your appointment.

Grafton Volunteer Fire Department Breakfast

The Grafton Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Grafton Ladies Auxiliary, will be holding an all you can eat buffet breakfast on Saturday, December 31, from 8 to 11 am at the Grafton VFW – Fire Hall on South Road (County Route 85). Belgian waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs (made to order), sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, home fries, toast, orange juice, coffee and milk are on the menu.
Cost is $8 per adult, $4 for kids 12 and free for kids under five. We look forward to serving you!

Continuing a tradition started by Pastor Robert Sprunger, the Hoosick Falls Community Band will present its 29th annual Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 21, at 7:30 pm. The venue is the First United Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls.

A Messiah Sing In Chatham

If you are passing by St. James Church any time after 7 pm  on Saturday evening, December 17, listen carefully. A Sing of Handel’s Messiah is scheduled to take place and, it is hoped, the resulting swell of voices will raise the roof.
This yearly tradition, begun in 2007, brings lovers of singing together with lovers of Handel.  The result is a blend of voices paying tribute to a brilliant 17th century composer.

Alyce Florence O’Neill

Hoosick Falls – Alyce Florence O’Neill, 62, a resident of Easy Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Waterbury on October 9, 1949, Alyce was the daughter of William and Alyce (Bergamo) O’Neill. She attended Crosby High School in Waterbury and earned her GED at the age of thirty-five and was very proud of that achievement. After attending Mattatuck Community College she worked for twenty years as a senior accounting clerk for Osram-Sylvania at their Watertown plant.
