Third Annual Hoosick Punkin’ Chunkin’ Competition
The Third Annual Hoosick Pumpkinpalooza is a little over a month away and teams are already preparing for the exciting Punkin’ Chunkin’ competition. Last year five teams participated and the competition was intense. The crowd loved the spectacle and cheered wildly when the event was won on the final shot. Organizers are hoping the excitement was contagious and even more teams join the fun this year.

Hoosick Grange had a fun night on Wednesday, August 10. They had a delicious covered dish supper first, than it was game night. They played Bingo with lots of prizes. The Petersburgh Public Library is pleased to announce that it has received a donation of the first 35 issues of The Taconic Press, issued in 1936. They were donated by Pamela Neaton Eggsware who received them from her aunt, Elizabeth Babcock Wells, her son Glenn Wells and her late husband, William Wayne Wells. Book Sale At The Grafton Library
The Grafton Community Library is holding a book sale on Saturday, August 27, from 8 am until 1 pm. Stock up on books for the remaining dog days of summer at bargain prices. Hardcover books are one dollar, and paperbacks are fifty cents. Remaining VHS tapes are free.

Columbia County Fair Cooking Contest Heats Up
With the Columbia County Fair just around the corner, area cooks should start opening their recipe card files, pulling out their cookbooks and searching the internet for “Best of” dishes. The 5th Annual Morton A. Ginsberg Memorial Cooking Contest is about to begin.
On Monday, September 5, at 12:30 pm, anyone interested can bring their star quality dish, fully cooked, to the North Gate of the Fair and enter in the competition for cash prizes ranging from $100 to $300 in the Youth division and $200 to $500 among adult participants.
