Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church – Where’s Waldo?

A group of adolescents with the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church’s Youth Group had the opportunity to spend the afternoon of March 26 at the Crossgates Mall in Albany. But it was no ordinary trip to the mall. The excursion involved playing the game Where’s Waldo? The game book series stars Waldo, a curious little guy wearing glasses, dressed in a red and white striped shirt with a matching hat, who uses a walking stick and backpack to travel everywhere.

Grafton Supervisor Resigns

Grafton Supervisor Allison Kirchner has resigned effective April 30. Grafton Town Clerk Suzanne Putnam confirmed that she had received the letter early this month, which indicated she was resigning for health reasons. Putnam said the attacks on the Town administration have been too stressful for Supervisor Kirchner.  “She’s a sensitive person – it was too upsetting,” said Putnam.
Councilman Ed Fredricks is the Deputy Supervisor, so he will become the Acting Supervisor on May 1. No special meetings are planned, so presumably the question of appointing a supervisor to serve the rest of this year will be taken up at the regular meeting on May 12.

The Berlin Town Board held its April regular meeting on April 14 in the Berlin Fire House. Overflow attendance caused the move from the Town Hall because it only has an official capacity of 50. Aside from the important decision the Board took to disapprove the contract to purchase the Berlin Lumber property for use as a municipal center, plenty of less controversial business took place. Petersburgh Hires Civil Engineer To Help Write Road Specs

At its monthly meeting on April 25 the Petersburgh Planning Board met with a Civil Engineer named Clark Wilkinson whom it would like to consult about road specifications for the Town.
The Planning Board is rewriting its regulations this year and would like to set standards for construction of new roads and driveways. Grafton Planning Board Action – Graftonondack Approved

The Grafton Planning Board met on Monday, April 18, with only one item on its agenda, the site plan review of Graftonondack Outfitters and Boat Livery. The required public hearing on the project was held at 6:45 before the regular meeting.

New Lebanon Mittnight Special Meeting

A special meeting of the New Lebanon Town Board was heard last Monday to discuss yet once again the zoning plight of Robert Mittnight Jr.
Mittnight Jr. has had zoning problems in New Lebanon of one sort or another now for almost nine years. Recently a New York State Supreme Court Judge ruled that Mittnight Jr. had until April 30 to remove building and other materials from his property. If he didn’t he would be looking at jail time.
