HFCS Sets Tax Rates

Open Enrollment At SMA

St. Mary’s Academy is still accepting registration for the 2013-2014 School Year. St. Mary’s  offers a Full Day Pre-k program for 3 year olds, 5 days a week with After Care available.  In recent NYS Assessment Results reporting, 49% of St. Mary’s students met or exceeded proficiency levels on the ELA assessment compared to 31% statewide and 53% met or exceeded proficiency on the math assessment compared to 31% statewide.

BCS Fall Sports Practice Schedule

Berlin Central High School sports practices begin Monday, August 19, for the following sports and levels:
• Girls Varsity Volleyball – 6 to 8 pm;
• Girls JV and Varsity Soccer –  5:30 to 7:30 pm;
• Boys JV and Varsity Soccer – 8:30 to 10:30 am;
• Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country – Monday, Wednesday and Friday  at 8 am and 6 pm;
• Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country – Tuesday and Thursday at 6 pm.
Modified boys and girls soccer, girls modified volleyball and modified cross country will start the first day of school.
All students need to hand in their health treatment form and concussion information form the first day of practice in order to be able to participate.

BCS Capital Project Bond Passes

The Berlin Central School District Board of Education has finally passed the Capital Project Bond authorization which will allow the District to purchase $5 million in bonds to fund a $6.8 million rehabilitation project of the District’s two working buildings.

New Lebanon CSD Announces Leadership Changes

Changes in leadership are already in place at the New Lebanon Central School District for the 2013-14 school year. The District welcomes Rick Arket as the Assistant Principal of the Jr./Sr. High School. Leslie Whitcomb transitions to the elementary school, and Matthew Klafehen to the Principal position at the Jr./Sr. High School.

HFCS Student/Parent Handbook Meeting

Registration Day At Berlin Middle/High School

There will be a Registration Day at Berlin Middle/High School in the Counseling Office on Tuesday, August 20, from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm for all new students in grades 6 – 12.
To register a child you will need a copy of your child’s birth certificate, health record (available at the previous school), the last report card, a copy of the IEP (if your child is classified by the Committee on Special Education), proof of residency within the Berlin Central School District and a copy of the Custodial Agreement if you are divorced or separated.
Please keep in mind you do not have to wait until August 20 to register your child.  We welcome and encourage you to register your child as soon as possible.  In addition, there are summer assignments that need to be completed before the first day of school.  Therefore the sooner you can come in to register your child the better it will be for everyone.
Registration packets are available for pick up in the Main Office from 7:30 am until 1:30 pm weekdays.

BES Students Attend RPI Summer Camp

Brianna Cole and Zachary Waldron, currently fifth-graders at Berlin Elementary School, were selected to attend the 2013 ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp (EMBHSSC), hosted at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. This camp provides a great opportunity for students to increase their mathematics, science, engineering, technology and communication skills.
