Grafton Man Earns Promotion

Timothy Etman from Grafton was recently promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt in a ceremony held at the Stephentown Town Hall. Etman’s rank is recognized by the following organization: John Izzo’s Okinawan Karate, Stephentown Self Defense Systems and Green Island Academy of Martial Arts. Panther Boys Soccer Has High Hopes For The Season

The Hoosick Falls Varsity Boys soccer team ended last season with a loss at the Sectional Semifinals, and the team is very sure that that is not how it will be ending this year. With the new additions to the team and some position rearrangement, Coach Josh Meyer is expecting a better outcome. “We lost some great seniors last year, but the new boys are great; they are more than capable of filling in the holes. The 2010 Lady Panthers Are At It Again

Hoping for back to back league championships the girls came out strong competing against Maple Hill and Lansingburgh in two scrimmages played on their home pitch on September 7. They tied the first game 2-2 with a goal from Meaghan McKee and another quick goal from a new addition to the team, Emma Frickie. In their second game of the day they started strong and ended strong winning 2-0. Seventh-grader Jordyn Hanes and tenth-grader Grace Delurey each added one assist and one goal.

It’s time to win that turkey again this year! The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club will be holding its Fall Turkey Shoot on
September 26 and October 3, rain date October 10, at 12 noon at the Clubhouse on Scriven Road. Spend an exciting afternoon with your family. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, homemade pies, popcorn and beverages are just a few of the items we offer. We are continuing with our Summer 50/50 which has been growing all summer. Hunter Safety Course
The Petersburgh Rod and Gun Club is offering a Hunter Safety Course on October 8 (evening) and October 9. You must attend both sessions. Friday Night Under The Lights

The HFCS Football Season begins Friday, September 3, at 7 pm at home against Corinth. The new bleachers and press box are in place. There is a classy white fence trimming the field. The food bar, a fairly recent addition, is set to go. The only hang up may be the weather. It will be in the 80s until the sun goes down, and there is a possibility of rain. Fans will just have to wait and see.

Petersburgh-Berlin Scout Troop #222 Builds Trail Kiosk For Cherry Plain State Park

Since April, local Scout Troop #222 has worked during its weekly meetings on the construction of a beautiful trail kiosk for Cherry Plain State Park. On Monday, August 24, the kiosk was officially installed at the trail head of the charcoal kiln trail, which also leads into the expansive Capital District Wildlife Management Area’s (CDWMA) trail system.

HFCS Golf Team Wins First Two Matches

Hoosick Falls Central School Golf Coach Pam Hatfield is pleased that her team is doing so well at the start of the season. On Tuesday, August 31, they golfed against Hoosic Valley on their home course, the Battenkill Country Club. In the match play HF’s Jordan Colvin was even with HV’s Kevin White. HF’s Kealan Hitt was 1 up on HV’s Frank Acker. HF’s Todd Rogers, 2-1 over HV’s Matt Espey. HF’s James Lynch was 3-1 against HV’s Ryan Heslin. HF’s Mitchell Andrew was 4-3 over HV’s John Houston. The victory belonged to Hoosick Falls, 3½ to ½.
