The Girl Can Play

August 13, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Chelsea Stevens loves baseball. So does her younger brother Andrew. Good thing, because their father, Ken, is a baseball nut. He has been collecting baseball cards and baseball memorabilia since he was four years old. He played baseball at HFCS, where he won the Frank Stevens Award, and in college at SUNY Oneonta. His team won the All SUNY championship in 1987. The children’s mom, Margaret is not a sports nut, but she is a great cheerleader. Ken has played an active role in the Hoosick Youth Softball and Baseball program since his children have been involved.

New Boat Launch Dedicated In Eagle Bridge

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Saturday, July 31, was a picture perfect day that included bright blue skies with wisps of white clouds and low humidity. For several of the Rensselaer Land Trust folks gathered for the dedication of the new public access boat launch on Route 67 in Eagle Bridge it was a far cry from the cold rainy day in May when they spent hours planting 200 trees around the perimeter of this now lush green area adjoining a field of tall corn. Lacrosse Added To Mix For Hoosick Youth

August 6, 2010 By eastwickpress

submitted by Eric Crawford
On Saturday, June 5, a rivalry was born. The Cambridge and Hoosick Falls boys lacrosse teams met for the first time in Cambridge for an exhibition game. The score was 14-7 in favor of Cambridge, but that is not the whole story. What is most important is that a rivalry was born and history was made by the boys who played the game. There was a large crowd on hand to support the teams during the Cambridge Balloonfest weekend. It was great to see these teams meet for the first time and to say we were there to be a part of it. It’s a part of history and just the beginning.
