One play might sum up last Friday night’s, January 15, girls WASAREN League game between home standing Hoosick Falls Central School and the visiting Granville Golden Horde. With 3:20 left in the third quarter, a Horde player drove to the rim and put up a shot which bounced off the top of the backboard and fell through the net. The hoop was disallowed, but that was the kind of help the Granville players seemed to have all night as they cruised to a 47-31 victory. Mountaineers Give Clippers A Battle

The Berlin boys basketball team had opened their season with a 92-43 drubbing at the hands of the Germantown Clippers, but now the Mountaineers’ season has shown signs of improvement. That continued Wednesday night when they hosted the Clippers once again. After averaging just 30 points per game in the first six games of the season, the Mountaineers have scored 42 points in three of their last four games.

Full Wolf Moon Cross-Country Ski Trek
Enjoy the stillness of the full wolf moon at a guided cross-country ski trek at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center on Saturday, January 30, beginning at 7 pm. This ski trek will cover about 2 miles and is designed for the intermediate skier. No beginners or snowshoes, please. We will be traveling under the natural light of the full moon. A silent auction of photos, drawings and paintings created during Grafton Lakes State Park’s Art in the Park program will be held at the Park’s Winter Festival on Saturday, February 6. HFCS Bowling Round Up
On Thursday, January 7, the Hoosick Falls bowling team defeated North Warren by the score of 4-0 at Lake George Bowl. Panther Girls Hoop Team Loses Tough One

Last Friday night, January 8, the Hoosick Falls Central School girls basketball team came up just short in a very good effort against the Greenwich Witches in a 57-44 WASAREN League contest. In a game much closer than the final score indicated, Kerry Brannigan’s Panther five took GCS to the final minutes before this ball game was decided. With the loss, HFCS drops to 0-5 in league play and to 1-7, overall. But the effort was there on the part of HFCS.
