For three days, the residents of the Town of Hoosick and the surrounding communities will have the opportunity to come together to celebrate the end of summer and all that our area has to offer. Hoosick Hometown Days will be held August 25 – 27 at the Town of Hoosick Athletic Fields from 5 to 10 pm on Thursday and Friday and from noon to 10 pm on Saturday.

Hoosick Grange News
Hoosick Grange met on July 27, with Master David Cornell. After the business meeting we had the Lecturer’s program. Betty Kipp was in charge of the program. Betty started out with a poem titled “Good Morning God.” She had two jokes and another poem by Helen Steiner Rice. Ed Carknard Golf Scramble Approaching Fast
The 6th Annual EC Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, August 13, at the Hoosick Falls Country Club. This event is a benefit to support youth participation in sports activities in the Town of Hoosick. To date the fund has supported multiple children in the community who need financial assistance while allowing the support to remain anonymous. All that is required to start the process is a phone call or letter to a member of the Carknard family with a brief description of what is needed.

HFCS Student Handbook Review
The Hoosick Falls Central School will be holding its annual public meeting to review the 2011-2012 Student & Parent Handbook for students in grades 7-12 on Wednesday, August 17, at 6 pm in the high school auditorium.
Back To School Clothing And More At Local Thrift Shop
Local Girl Scouts will once again open the Thrift Shop on the first Friday and Saturday of the month. The hours are Friday, August 5, from 4 to 7 pm and Saturday, August 6, from 9:30 am to noon. The shop is also open on Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm.

PVMCC Square Dance
The Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center will host a square dance on Friday, August 12, from 7 to 9:30 pm. People under the age of 18 get in free courtesy of the Stewart’s grant. Gail Griffith and the Cambridge County Dance Band will be performing. Don’t worry if you don’t know how, they teach the dance. Come on out and enjoy the fun.
Tuesday Women’s Bowling League Meeting
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, August 9, at 6:30 pm at the Barbecue Recreation pavilion for the Tuesday Night Women’s Bowling League. All team captains are encouraged to attend. At least one person from each team must be represented to cast any votes that might be taken.
